So it all started about a year ago when Dirtfoot won the John Lennon Song Writing Contest, NOLA Jazz Competition. Matt received an Epiphone John Lennon Casino Electric Guitar as part of the prize package and the sound of Dirtfoot quickly began to change. Soon an amp appeared on stage and the guitar became heavier, dirtier, louder.
Shortly thereafter, our dear friend and former drummer Lane Bayliss decided to retire and we had to find a new guy for the group.
In came Derek Russell, a rock drum wonder who has quickly given the band a new edge and drive.
You thought Dirtfoot was rowdy before?
So we've been wanting to capture this new sound, a new recording, and then it happened. Brady Blade saw a live show, dug our new rock influenced sound so much that he offered to produce and have us record in his studio.
Who is Brady?
Brady has been producing and performing for years, working with greats like Daniel Lanois, EmmyLou Harris, Steve Earle, Dave Matthews (Dave Matthews and Friends) and countless others.
The man is truly a professional and will be bringing years of expertise to our project.
So, the time is finally here!
Brady has brought our fine town of Shreveport a true gem with Blade Studios. This multi-million wonder is super cush, the real deal Holyfield and we cannot pass up the chance to record in such a fine studio.
THIS WILL BE OUR FIRST ALBUM WITH A PRODUCER!
When you combine the amazing studio, producer extraordinaire, mix master Chris (who mixed Bone Sessions) and the new tunes we’ve been honing in our 2nd floor dungeon, this record will be the tops.
But here's where we need your help.
Dirtfoot is still your favorite DIY band. We don't have a label behind us or any big pile of money that we dig into.
Why are we asking for $16,000? Studio time costs big bucks. Yes our producer owns the studio, but we are still paying a discounted rate. Also, we also have the expense of engineering, mastering, actual production of the CD, preparing all the Kickstarter rewards, and much more.
You can help make the best album we have ever recorded!
And we aren't asking you to just give us money,
Cause we want you all to get something in return.
And this time… We’re doing things a little different.
We have decided to make many of our items Kickstarter Supporter Exclusives. Whether it’s a Sticker, T-Shirt, Poster or some personalized one off item, you will not find our rewards anywhere else. Well, except the CD itself, of course.
You will feel full body warm and fuzzies as you listen to our new album, knowing that you helped us reach our goal.
Also, the $16,000 is the bare minimum we need to get this thing completed, produced and out to you. Of course, we want to do so much more than that! So any moneys we make past our goal will be used solely for tour support and helping get Dirtfoot out on the road and back in all your faces!
WE WANT TO HAVE A NATIONWIDE TOUR SUPPORTING THIS RECORD!
That's right! Let's blow this thing up so you can see your favorite Grumble Boogie boys grace your home town in 2013!
Of course if we don't hit our goal, we don't receive a single penny. So please pledge what you can, help spread the word and share with all your friends.
We will be updating you constantly from the studio and of course on the road, whenever the urge comes upon us.
We do apologize in advance if you see a lot of our smiling faces in the next 30 days, but we appreciate your patience while we complete this new project.
Thank you all for your continued support.
We Love You! XXOO
Risks and challenges
Studio time has been secured and recording is already in the works. We have a team of people, graphic artists, video/editing, and many more who are helping us to put together this album.
Our main hurdle is funding and we are hopeful that Kickstarter and our gang will help make this happen.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
