Thank you so much for visiting my Kickstarter page and for taking the time to read through my story! I've set up this page, because I need your help to finish and promote my new CD!
I am producing a new CD entitled, "Dirk K - It’s On”. 5 original compositions and 5 covers. The covers include a fantastic funk version of Toxic (Britney Spears) a bluesy groove version of Funkytown (Lipps, Inc.) one of my favs, Holding Back the Years (Simply Red), a mysterious ballad version of Lovesong (The Cure) and a Latin/ bossa version of That’s the Way of the World (Earth, Wind & Fire).
I already finished the recording and mastering part in the studio and I am shooting for a release in September. I'm trying to raise $4,500 in 30 days in order to finish this project. This campaign is my invitation for you to partner with me in accomplishing this goal!
This is how Kickstarter works: Click on any amount that you feel you are able to give, and next to each amount you'll see an incentive that simply expresses my thanks for your contribution. In other words, you get something in return! Here's the catch......If we don't meet the $4,500 goal, I don't get any of it. It's all or nothing. And if the goal isn't met, you won't be charged anything. Remember we only have 30 days to do this!!!
What does the money go toward? This pays for CD replication, artwork, photo session and radio promotion, $4,500 will be just enough to make this happen. We've budgeted quite conservatively, and the truth is, the more money we have, the more we can do with this record. Anything above $4,500 will absolutely be used on this project. It will help me to extend the radio promotion campaign and my campaign via SmoothJazz.com.
This is my dream and I want you to be a part of it. The music business changed a lot over the years. I am now able to do internet promotion and radio promotion through my own label DIP Records, with some luck and your backing I have a great chance in making this project a success.
The video above showcases a live performance of some of the new tracks taken at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.
My timeline and goals:
June 2014: Recording and Mastering. Already done:)
August 2014: Photo Shoot and Artwork, Getting the CD ready for print. Music video for Funkytown.
September 2014: Release, Promotion on SmoothJazz.com, Radio Promotion, Concerts
I am so grateful that you would even consider joining me in this adventure. Your support means everything to me. THANK YOU!
Risks and challenges
The project is already recorded and mastered which is the most time sensitive part. Once this project is successfully funded, I intend to proceed quickly through the process of taking pictures for the cover, finishing the art work and getting it replicated. Of course, there can be delays at any step, graphic design glitches, finding common time to get everyone together, but having gone through this process many times, I'm confident that I'll have a product for you ready in September 2014.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
