First... watch the campaign video above. =)
...and don't forget the "UPDATES" tab above the video to stay current.
That's right, we're currently in the process of writing/recording our next album and this time we're changing the game. We want to get the fans DIRECTLY involved! Hopefully that means YOU! We've been working on songs for the past 6 months and now it's time to share them with the people who deserve them most... the people who make every ounce of sweat, every sleepless night and every mile traveled all worth it... our amazing fans.
We're launching a Kickstarter campaign that accomplishes two things: First it offers our fans the opportunity to contribute to the release of our next album in exchange for cool incentives! Second it helps us raise the money we need to finish the album and market it nationwide THE RIGHT WAY.
Why are we doing this?
The recent decline in CD sales and downloads has left the music industry (especially rock music) in an interesting state of chaos. Basically there has never been more demand for music, hence Ipods and endless playlists, yet music sales are at an ALL TIME low. Thus, record labels are downsizing or simply dissolving. Emerging national artists are forced to adapt or just give up. Basically fans still want music, but the initial funding to create such music is no longer available.
A possible solution?
We heard about Kickstarter and immediately reached out to our fans for their opinions. What a great concept! By making donations fans are given the opportunity to directly be a part of creating and releasing our new album! We loved the idea, and based off responses on our Facebook page, so did the fans! So here it is. Help us record and release our new album! This is YOUR chance to be a part of the Digital Summer movement! We've done everything on our own thus far, so why not take it up a notch?! Everything we do is about only two things anyway: the music and the fans. So why not bring them together and just maybe we can show the industry what's really possible.
What is the money being used for?
By helping us reach our pledge goal, you're helping to cover the costs of recording, mixing, mastering, duplicating, distributing and marketing our new album. $25,000 may seem like a lot, but in reality it's merely a fraction of what it costs to properly record and release an album. We really only chose that number in order to better assure we reach our pledge goal. (The average major label album release runs about $250,000 in initial expenses.)
What happens if we don't reach our pledge goal?
We get nothing. Zero. No one is charged and no incentives are given. ...and we will be very sad. Kittens and puppies everywhere will cry.
What happens after the goal is reached?
We keep going! There is NO limit to how much we can raise! Once we reach our goal all the incentives each backer paid for are guaranteed and we're on our way to releasing the new album. Any additional amount raised after recording and duplication will ALL go towards the album in the avenues of marketing, radio play and touring.

How much can a band REALLY do on their own?
That's a fair question. So far we've toured the country with several big name national artists, played numerous sold out shows, been in nearly 50 publications, sold over 50,000 CDs and downloads, co-written songs for major label artists, had 4 singles on major market radio and even had a #1 single for over 7 weeks on 98KUPD in Phoenix, AZ. Point is... EVERYTHING we've done thus far has been on our own and this time we're looking for the fans to help us take it to the next level!
Oh yeah, we do our own music videos too... Like the one below.
I would LOVE to give this to a friend or family member as a gift. Can I gift an incentive?
YES! Spectacular idea. If you would like to support Digital Summer but want to give the reward to someone else as a gift, please go through the normal process of making a donation in your name. Then, when we reach out to you via e-mail to request additional information, please tell us who should receive the reward.
Can I increase my pledge once it has been made?
YES! Once you donate to the campaign, you may want to change your incentive reward to a different one, or simply increase your pledge amount. To do so, please sign onto Kickstarter as usual. On our campaign page, click the blue button that reads "Manage Your Donation." If you click it, you can enter a new amount, or choose a new incentive!
Can I pledge for more than one incentive?
Absolutely! There is no limit to the amount you can pledge or number incentives you may receive. ("Limited" incentives excluded)
I'm too excited! How do I get started right now?
It's easy, and incredibly quick! Just click the green "Back This Project" button on this page and follow the steps. It should take you less than 2 minutes to complete the entire process.
If I make a pledge, when is my card charged?
If the project you’re backing is successfully funded, your card will be charged when the project reaches its funding deadline. If the project does not reach its funding goal, your card is never charged. That's why we call them pledges.
If funding does not succeed do backers pay anything?
Nothing. If funding is unsuccessful, all pledges are canceled and that's that.
Is my pledge amount publicly displayed?
No. Only you and the project creator will be able to see your pledge amount.
Can people from outside the US pledge to projects?
Yes! Anyone, anywhere (with a major credit card) can pledge to Kickstarter projects.
I'm international and keep getting asked for a US address when pledging. What do I do?
If you are a non-US Amazon Mechanical Turk user you may experience a problem trying to pledge. We've alerted Amazon about this bug. Sorry this is annoying. Please view these instructions to pledge: https://www.jungledisk.com/secure/signup/mturk.aspx.

No. The incentives are set up to each have their own value. Some have many things attached to them from other incentives, but some do not. The idea was to create several options of different value instead of just tacking on all the same things. However, the *DS TOTAL PACKAGE* has by far the most actual "stuff" included, and that incentive IS part of several other larger incentives as well. =)
Yes. We simply ask that the backer please consider the shipping cost that will be involved. If possible, pledge just a little more to help cover the cost of shipping. Sometimes shipping to other countries can be quite expensive and if we end up paying more than we make... it kind of defeats the purpose. But in short... yes, we can ship to another country.
