What to do when you get your Digisparks? When will I get them?

If you missed the Kickstarter project but want to pre-order some Digisparks - you can do so at our website: - click the "Pre-order Form" link. Pre-orders will ship as soon as all Kickstarter orders have shipped.

What to do when you get your Digispark?

First: Please confirm that everything you ordered was received, if anything is missing send us an email at support at digistump dot com - include your order id, order link, email address, or some way for us to find your order. As well as what you received and what you did not or what was broken. We will not respond to missing items/damaged items reports in any form besides email, we simply don't have time to chase down orders with incomplete info and try to respond through comments/posts.

Second: Go here - you'll find the software, some basic tutorials for getting started as well as instructions for all of the kits!

Third: If you have any issues, questions, etc about getting your Digispark to work, read the troubleshooting section in the getting connected article on the wiki linked above. If you still have questions please post them to our forum at: - (and before you post read the answers already there!) that way the community can help answer questions and they will be available to help others.

Fourth: Have fun, work on some great projects, and start thinking about sharing them! We'll soon be offering free stuff to people who post detailed tutorials, projects, etc using the Digispark - stay tuned for more on this!

When will I get my Digisparks?

Our goal is to send out 200-300 per day, and now that we have several days of packing under our belts, we think that is a realistic goal moving forward.

Why haven't we then been getting out 200-300 per day?

Several things:

  • We've been fine tuning the process.
  • We had a snow storm that kept our family volunteer help from coming out this week.
  • And that was a blessing in disguise because the next shipment of 10k Digisparks shipped out "2 day shipping" but still won't be here until Monday at the earliest (it seems it is not a good time for shipping large boxes right now).

What we're doing to get things out ASAP:

  • Since we will easily get through all the Digisparks on hand this weekend, before the next batch comes - we spent some extra time lately on software (so you can use them when you get them) and tutorials.
  • Next week we'll have our helpers come and push out a bunch in one day, we'll continue to pack daily as well.
  • This weekend we'll ship out all the remaining Digisparks on hand, which is about 700 more packages.
  • We'll continue to refine our process in hopes of hitting our 300 a day goal.
  • The final shipment of 15k Digisparks will be here by Wednesday, so no concerns about running out again.

We truly apologize that this is going a bit slower than planned - we truly are giving it all of our efforts. We looked into fulfillment companies, but that would have left us in debt after the project. Thank you all for your continued patience, and know that we are committed to getting them to you ASAP!

So when can you expect yours? - if you look at your shipping queue postition on your order status page (if you don't have the link to your order status page go here:

Take your shipping queue position and divide it by 200 and then add 2 if the current date is before Christmas and Christmas Eve (we'll package on those days but not 200!) and that should be a *rough* estimate of when your order should leave here. So if you're #1800, probably around the 2nd.

Note: the shipping queue position is updated in real time - so if you are #1, your order is being packed next. We do deviate a bit in that we pack upcoming like orders at the same time sometimes, so I'd say the number is accurate within +/- 100 at any given time.

Please do not send us any emails asking when yours will ship - the method for estimating above is exactly what we'd use to give you an estimate, and then we're doing math instead of packing orders.

While you're waiting:

And here is a quick rough video we made of how our shipping setup works - for all of those who asked:

Thank you all again for your continued support and patience!

We'll respond to comments and give small updates in the comments here, but this will be out last full update (as long as nothing changes) for awhile (so we can concentrate on packing and not spam those who already have their Digisparks) - so check out the comments or leave us a note in the comments if you'd like an update on anything.

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!

@Dennis - while we now know German customs does not agree - the international mail manual does not require an outside invoice for small first class parcels to Germany and in fact we were advised by our postal service that due to the small size of our packages we should not attach anything outside the package except the shipping label, otherwise they may have gotten held up on our end. We do everything in our power to meet the complex requirements of shipping overseas - it certainly wasn't due to lack of care or effort.

Next time please put the bill on the outside of the package. That's just the normal international procedure. Otherwise you have to fetch it directly from the customs which is pretty much annoying for a small packet. With the bill outside in a porch the customs is allowed to open it and you get billed in fromt of your door :-)

Honestly: Taken into account the amount of items sent out and that sending needed 5 month I would have expected this to be done right.

Everyone - we aren't really checking these much, please post any questions to the main project comments or the forum at

@James - we don't check the update comments much, sorry, thanks for posting it on the forums instead.
      @Patrick - wonderful, enjoy!

My Digisparks arrives a couple of days ago, safe and sound. Thank you so much!

    7. James Medd on January 26, 2013

So as not to keep plaguing the comments thread with issues, I've started a thread on the forums about my issue.

    8. James Medd on January 26, 2013

Okay, so I filed it down a little but it's still a tight fit. Anyone else experiencing this?

    9. James Medd on January 26, 2013

My Digisparks arrived just a few minutes ago. One problem so far:

1 out of the 3 I received seems to have been cut a bit too wide, meaning it won't fit into any USB port. Any advice on what do with this?

    10. Erik Kettenburg 6-time creator on January 24, 2013

@Jeremiah - we do have a laser down again, glad we bought two - we should have all orders out within the next two weeks (more likely 1.5 weeks) regardless of whether they have cases. Kickstarter orders are now nearly 80% shipped and I expect most of the remaining will be out by this weekend (after which postal rates go way up!).

    11. Jeremiah James on January 23, 2013

Erik - thanks for the update! I forget where my place was around the 10th, but I know it wasn't as close as it was now. This morning I checked and I was #151, and now this evening I'm #143 - is the printer offline still or another error?

Getting antsy, however MUCH more appreciative of everyone's hard work!

    12. Erik Kettenburg 6-time creator on January 10, 2013

Everyone - some may be wondering why their order has been in the top 100 for several days when we are shipping 200+ per day. Unfortunately, one of our two laser cutters is offline right now and so we are cutting as fast as we can but hitting a bit of a bottleneck because we can pack much faster then they can ship.
This weekend I will try to bring the second machine back up. Until then please accept our apologies if you get stuck at the top of the queue for an extra day or two - we're doing all we can to expedite things (including running the laser cutter 18 hours a day!). Thank you all for your patience!

    13. Erik Kettenburg 6-time creator on January 7, 2013

@Quentin - we could, but then we'd be making graphs instead of shipping and that probably isn't a great use of our time unless a lot of people want it.

You could figure it from checking here (or write a script to check it?) -

Can you put a graph online showing # of packages shipped per day? That will make us feel better about how long we have to wait...

    15. Michael Audette on January 1, 2013

100% Accurate shipment! My daughter soldered together a RGB Shield today and they work awesome! Thanks!

UPDATE: The next batch is sitting in a warehouse in route, it seems they got delayed because of the holiday. We should have them tomorrow and the final batch should be here Friday. Most of the stock on hand has been shipped out, but we'll ship the few hundred we have left out tonight.

Thanks for your patience and we hope everyone had a great holiday,

    17. Anbuselvan Periannan on December 24, 2012

I got it today! @Eric, thanks for the cool Christmas gift!

    18. fmotta on December 24, 2012

      Correction - 2 digisparks - 2 headers with 6 pins - 2 headers with 3 pins - one strip of through-hole pins

    19. fmotta on December 24, 2012

Well I received my two sufficiently packaged digisparks and a header today - this and my multiplo fought for my attention - the bot won for today

    20. Erik Kettenburg 6-time creator on December 24, 2012

@J Rey - likely in February - but if you get tried of waiting you can put in another pre-order at - then you'd have to buy two more Digisparks though, as that is the base pre-order (to justify the no extra charge shipping).

    21. J Rey on December 24, 2012

I received mine on Dec-22nd. Packaged properly, etc. Now I need shields. When will you have the shields for sale on your website?
