This game sounds like it will be fun to play can't wait for it to come on Kickstarter

Any new informations about the Kickstarter launch? Will this happen in September or later?

@Igor Pyrko, the cheaper version will have standees. (And, after talking with the team, it sounds like they'll be a step up from the normal standees in games...) It'll also still come with the four main wanderer characters as minis.

@_DM_, it was our first prototype, and we're currently working on changing the background on the board. (We actually got a couple of people who worked on The Evil Within to do the graphics on the new one.) It'll be different by the time the Kickstarter hits. Glad you liked the malformations, though! And no offense taken at all, my friend. ;)

Will the cheaper version have standees instead of minis? Or will you use cards?

      _DM_ on

@Byron - Hey, I watched the LTP video just posted on BGG.
(And btw, the balance with the malformations is geeeeenius and just frigging exciting! I'm expecting to be given anxiety lol and Celestial! And Alice in Wonderland with multiple personalities lol)

Anyway... is the DoM background THE playmat/board of the game?
It might be a temporary placeholder or whatever,
      But JUST in case,
I was really surprised at how in-your-face-LIGHT it was. Looked exactly like the Anachrony game cover-- not the legit nightmare horror of DoM world (sorry!!).
It kinda took me out of what was being said, since I didn't feel the "creepy" or "terror" I expected.

I understand if it's an interpretention of a veil of sorts &/or brain and all the synapses firing.
But it just didn't work at all with the horrific theme, for ME.

JUST my 2 cents, IF that was/is the mat/board of the game.
If it's not... please disregard. lol And I really hope I didn't offend you.

I'm thinking that Companion App and Ambient sound would make this game more deeper.

Hey, @Byron- Any clue if this will/might be Canada-friendly?

      Hello team,

seeing the success of your previous work, and how well the multilingual games come out, we hope from the Spanish-speaking community that this project will also come out in Spanish.

@Daniel, thanks for the heads up, and for your messages on Facebook! Feel free to send me a message at byron@diemensiongames.com, too, if you'd like to. Would it be a problem that the prototype is all in English? (I think we've already discussed this, but just to be sure.)

      @Byron:
Thank you for the informations awesome.
You said , you talk about gameplay reviews with your prototyps.

I would like to remind myself and my German board game channel (Genus Solo - Brettspiele ) on YouTube. I would like to make a German-language video for the Kickstarter campaign. Further information I have already communicated to you via Facebook Messanger. I would appreciate a Feedback. I wish you all the best.

hi Byron! Thanks for the clarification. If there’s a lot of text translations are even more crucial! Thanks for considering!

      Superbacker
      on

For those wondering about translations, thanks for the feedback and requests. Keep them coming! We're still figuring translations out, but we're getting closer. (There's a LOT to translate in this game.)

    20. Byron Leavitt Collaborator
      Superbacker
      on

@Russonc, sorry for further feeding the addiction, but glad you're on-board! =D The average game will be about 2-3 hours, and the average campaign will be 4 games plus the finale (which will be 1-2 hours.) There also might be an intro game, but that will be very short and probably skipped on later campaigns. (The campaign length will also change in some cases, as it is variable-length.)

    21. Byron Leavitt Collaborator
      Superbacker
      on

@Kos, aka Kosm, we're going to have two versions: a "minis light" version for those who just want the gameplay or need a cheaper entry-price (around $70-75), and then the minis version, which will be around $130.

@John Simpson, if you're wanting a story-driven game, I think you'll be very pleased with what we have to offer. ;)

@_DM_, LOL! I don't think anyone could accuse us of rushing, judging by how many times we've pushed this campaign back. =D

We are working on making 5-10 prototypes to send out to reviewers/previewers. I haven't talked with Rolling Solo specifically yet, but I would definitely like to send him one.

Sorry for not replying to everyone's questions/comments. I'll try to catch up.

      @Daniel Korbely: great questions.
      1. There is a TON of replayability in DoM, because, first of all, each character has four different endings and you're only ever going to get one ending from one wanderer in any campaign. On top of this, every choice you make drastically impacts the whole rest of the current game as well as the campaign itself, so every time you play it will be a fresh experience. I don't think you could play the same game if you wanted to - at least not for quite a while.
      2. I'm talking with the team about a DM crossover. I'm hoping the answer is yes. It would be very difficult to bring DM into DoM, but it might be possible to bring DoM into DM. (And regardless, The Faces of the Sphere will be playable in both.)
      3. We're still working out the All-In price. We're trying to keep it lower than DM. We're also offering more options to make the game accessible to more people.
      4. Yes, German is in those top three.
      Thanks for the well wishes!

I think it is time to ask for a Spanish translation :D

... as hard as I may be trying to slow down on KS campaigns...I don't think I can miss this one... looks awesome. Would be sure to add at least an idea as to how long an individual campaign might last (range is fine)... ie we taking 10-12 chapters of 2 hrs each or...??

      See you on launch day!

      _DM_ on

Please don't rush launch just to please us. We'd rather wait for quality than get something incomplete quickly.

Also, dunno if already asked: solid plans to send prototypes to Rolling Solo and others? (I'd add Rahdo, but this might be too dark for them).

Looks interesting, be interested in seeing more once its been launched. I like decisions that will effect game play and characters. Hoping for a great Story Driven Game :) :p

    32. Kos, aka Kosm on

I don't mind delays, gives me a chance to save up the money :)

      Any news on base-game cost?

    33. Nacho Lanza on

Im pretty sure that TOP 3 is German, French and Spanish and also in that order xD

    34. Daniel Korbely on

      Hi,
      some questions:

1.) Story driven: How about replaybility?
2.) Deep Madness: Will it give a crossover?
3.) Costs: Will this campaign for all-in expensive (over 300$) like DM?
4.) Language: you spoke about a Top 3. is german part of this top list?

      Thank you & Good luck!🍀

I'll be posting a bunch of gameplay stuff very soon. For those wondering about the actual launch, it's not looking like mid- to late-September. Sorry for delaying this again, guys, but it might as well be as good as it can be when it launches. And then I'll be able to show you all a lot of stuff as we draw closer.

      @G126 & @Striker- late August/early September. But that's too general. We're 1-2 months out! lol

This is looking so awesome! I can't wait to see more of the components, like the board, tokens, cards, and the rules. I am a big Petersen Games fan and I found out about Dawn of Madness (and Diemension Games) from the Eternal Adversary cross over expansion. Deep Madness also looks great! Hopefully one day you will do a 3rd reprint of it ;)

I was thinking of saving for Etherfields, but I think this won me over. Really excited to see how Dawn of Madness plays!

Diving into Dawn of Madness

More videos and information to come! Are you ready for a true horror experience?

Unlock your past. Experience the nightmare. Embrace the dawn.

You have awoken in a world that can't possibly exist. Everywhere you look you see some fresh nightmare; some new perversion of reality. You don't remember how you got here. In fact, your mind feels as though it has shattered, its fractured memories scattered in the wind. Despite this, you see hints of your past all around you, glimmers of the familiar tormenting you amidst the twisted, fluctuating landscape. What's worse, though, is that as you stumble through this place you realize you are not alone. There are monstrous, impossible beings shuffling and slithering and skittering toward you, hideous beyond all comprehension. Their most disturbing aspect, however, isn't the abject terror they exude. It's that you recognize them.

It's not long before you discover there are other people here, too, wandering through this fever dream with you. They seem as lost, as scared, and as broken as you are. If you want to survive this place and escape, then you will have to band together with them, setting aside your differences and distrust to push back the oncoming torrent of seething corporeal chaos. Because otherwise you won't just die: your very essence will cease to exist.

Dawn of Madness is a story-driven cooperative game of survival horror for 1-4 players. Set in the same universe as the breakout hit board game Deep Madness, Dawn of Madness is a completely standalone, unique, and terrifying gaming experience. During the game players will assume the role of wanderers trapped in a feverish hellscape, surrounded by the distorted echoes of their own history. As one of these wanderers, you must seek to discover what led you to this horrific world, struggling to survive as you and your fellow players' stories unfold across multiple chapters in an ongoing campaign.

Experience true horror unlike any board game before as you are immersed in stories of terror and madness, using the amplified powers of your mind to survive and fight back against the encroaching aberrations out to devour you. Bind your consciousness to other players' in order to accomplish difficult tasks, and earn coda cards and memories to boost your abilities while uncovering your past. All the while you will be gathering story points toward one of the multiple endings for each wanderer, and in the campaign's epic finale the wanderer - and the ending - with the most story points will spawn their respective terrifying, relentless final boss.

The choices made throughout a chapter - and even the order those choices are made in -influence almost every aspect of the game, ensuring that no playthrough will ever be exactly the same. Adding even more variety, danger, and tension are the chapter-agnostic Abominations and their distortions who plague each game in unique and changing ways, summoning vortexes of energy to alter the course of play and bring fresh dangers with every round. And all these challenges don't even include the malformations: alternate versions of the wanderers themselves, each one increasingly more corrupt than the one before, and each one able to take players into the darkest recesses of their comrades' souls.

Hearkening back to survival-horror classics like Silent Hill, The Evil Within, and Alan Wake, Dawn of Madness is a mind-bending, psychological experience unlike any other attempted in a board game. So gather your wits and steel your nerves for a trip into other universes and the depths of the human consciousness. Sometimes, the greatest horrors of all lie within.
