I held this in my hands and it was just right. I know it might make people laugh at the crag, but I backed it and want to see this thing outside.

I've donated. Looking forward to receiving the big package, and getting up a nice tight crack so I can teste it out.

It's much ado about nutting.

Welcome to Dick's Nut Tool and the launch of our premier product, a nut tool for folks who like to go hard. Founded in 2015 by Dick Cocksure, our company is dedicated to creating rigorous climbing tools of the foremost quality, the cream of the crop.
Dick and our team of designers fabricate our stainless steel nut tools in Portland, Oregon, with the aspiration to usher good design into the great, great outdoors. We're confident that the Dick's Nut Tool experience feels unlike anything you've fondled before.
We love climbing America. In the United States alone, over 2 million people engage in the sport of traditional climbing. We at Dick's Nut Tool stand erect with them, throwing on our finest tank tops and hitting the road for our next big adventure.
Creating this top-notch tool, our team celebrates our passion for climbing and our love of design. We are thrilled to provide you with an experience you can dangle from your harness proudly, as you ascend your next peak and beyond.
In spring of 2014, Dick found himself climbing the dry desert rocks of Utah when he was hit hard with the idea to create a nature-inspired, ergonomic nut tool. By fall Dick and a fellow designer, Eric, had gone deep into the design process, sketching shapes and sizes, rendering 3D images, and modeling prototypes.
Assembling a team of seasoned designers and makers, including Abigail, Jacob, and Jonathan, Dick and our crew banded together in spring of 2015, and plunged into researching and testing.
First, we used fiberboard to roughly define the tool's proportions. Next came laser-cut acrylic, further refining the shape and providing a sturdy grip.
Once we had an acrylic model, our initial prototype seemed overly stiff and rigid. In revision, the winning design retained its rigidity, but with a rounder shaft, and a hand-grip we find gentler to touch.
Engaged in hot debate over an appropriate size for the tool, our team passed prototypes from hand to hand, gathering feedback from fellow designers and climbers. We settled on a girth that nestled naturally in adult hands, ringing true to Dick's original inspiration in mankind's roots.
We decided on 12 gauge stainless steel for the tooling material, chosen for its resistance to corrosion and rust. From the tool's shaft to its tip, the steel tapers, resulting in a tip that doubles as a bottle opener.
Dick and our team are probing deep, running tests 'round the clock to confirm this nut tool is as rigid and robust as possible. We're also strategizing vigorously for the addition of a built-in carabiner for the final product.
In addition to our nut tool, we are tickled to offer a Kickstarter exclusive, Dick's Keytool. Made of aluminum, our keytools are laser cut, and serve to open the finest bottled beverages.
Dick's Nut Tool headquarters is located at Oak Mgmt Company in Portland, Oregon. We welcome you to come visit the space, see our tools, and share stories over a bowl of fresh popcorn.

Risks and challenges
Here at Dick's Nut Tool, we know that our product needs to be both robust and user-friendly. Climbers depend on these tools to get their nuts out of tight spots, and we will be behind, supporting them.
The tool needs a functioning carabiner that may be challenging to assemble ourselves. We're assessing the device structure and searching for an affordable solution in the Portland area. Dick and our team are also evaluating manufacturers to determine which best suits our needs for consistent, quality results. Meeting minimum orders might be a question, along with keeping costs modest.
These factors all affect the Dick aspiration, delivering on-time at a reasonable cost, and with the most outstanding product possible. We are thrilled to offer you this tool, and together, look forward to exploring just how big Dick's Nut Tool can become.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
