Hello everyone! It's been awhile since our last update, so we thought we'd pop by, say hello and update you on what's been going on.
First of all, the ship filled with copies of VivaJava has not reached port yet, but it's scheduled to come in within the next week or so. We'll be sure to keep you updated once we receive news that it's made landfall and is clearing customs. From what we can tell, the ship has dodged most of the crazy weather that's been going on out there and is still on schedule. Everyone knock on some wood that it will remain steady and true!
In other news, Chris was at GenCon this past week and ran several demos - all of which went amazingly well. One group came back for seconds! Chris even got a chance to play in some of them and had a lot of fun meeting, teaching and trying to beat several of you.
Event Hall E - VivaJava's official demo headquarters!
Dan Patriss graciously helped out with some of the demos. Here he explains the finer points of being the Brewmaster.
This group really got into the game, and most pre-ordered right after they played!
A Rainbow Samba Mama. Our favorite blend.
Ed Marriott was one of the many that played VivaJava at GenCon and he provides a great session report of the game at Boardgamegeek. Here's an excerpt:
"This game was fantastic and I know that it will make the table many times. It plays quickly for the number of players. The gameplay flows really well. It is simple enough that it doesn't take a rocket scientist to teach it or understand it. Yet, the strategy is deep enough for a rocket scientist to enjoy it!"
It was great to meet many of you at GenCon, and we hope to continue to meet many of you at conventions in the future. Make plans for Origins 2013 and come out to challenge us both for the title of Ultimate Brewmaster!
Finally, we leave you with a quick mention that we currently have another project up on Kickstarter that some of you may enjoy - The Great Heartland Hauling Co. We've seen quite a few of you in the backer list, and we greatly appreciate the support. Heartland is a great, light game that can make for a perfect diversion between games of VivaJava, so check it out and let us know what you think!
We'll be back soon with news on the ship - until then, happy gaming and stay caffeinated!
All the best,
Cherilyn & Chris
