Ten years ago, Cathy Butler and Farah Mendlesohn ran a highly successful conference in Bristol. Five years ago Kim Reynolds ran another in Newcastle...
Surely it's time for another chance to celebrate the work of Diana Wynne Jones?
As universities no longer offer free venues we decided to look around for the best deal, and we've decided on The Watershed in Bristol. For this we need to raise a cash deposit of £800.
To this we are offering 30 memberships at break even or discount rate. We really need to raise this by the end of the month in order to secure the venue.
Any surplus will be used for enhancing the conference ie childcare support, bursaries, and quality of food.
Risks and challenges
Our main risk is numbers: we need to attract 60 people at the break even rate, which is £80, so after the kickstarter all rates will go up.
Any surplus will be put into extras for the conference including support for childcare, bursaries for low waged members who have bought the full £80 membership, and if there is any more money, will be used to subsidise food.
Both Cathy and Farah have organised many successful conferences.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
