About

That’s a Wrap is a card-drafting, dice-rolling, movie-making game for 2-5 players.

Take on the role of a movie director hired at a major movie studio.  Your job includes choosing your own genres, bidding on brilliant scripts, hiring talented actors, and using your newfound influence to make the most profitable and awards-winning movies possible!

But if you read the fine print, you’ll notice that at the end of your contract, only the director that brings back the most Oskie Awards will get to keep their job. You’ll have to be smart, a little lucky, and just a bit cutthroat.  In this job you are expected to navigate studio meddling, beat your fellow directors, and take home those Oskies. Good luck!

In fact, here's an example of a movie made at this studio...

Each round in That's a Wrap, you will make a movie by going through six phases, shown in more detail here!

Draw the Talent and Script cards to be bid on during this round

Do you want to make money this round or go all-in on Oskies?  Directors choose a genre secretly and reveal at the same time. If you are the only one to choose a certain genre, you get a bonus!

Use your cash to buy scripts and hire actors, but you’ll have to outspend your opponents!

Play Studio cards to help your movie or use your Influence to sabotage others

Add up all money symbols and roll the dice to see how audiences like it. It’s a hit! The movie that performs the best in the Profit round also receives the Audience Choice Oskie

If your movie has what it takes, try to win Oskies for your script, actor, and yourself, the director!

After four rounds, the director who has the most Oskie awards is the winner!

That's a Wrap features over 100 entirely original, diverse, and beautiful illustrations, as well as over 50,000 possible film combinations (Horror movie with a Courtroom script starring a Child Actor? Yes please).  Every Script, Talent, and Studio card is unique and allows you to create movies that are totally your own.

But don’t just take our word for it, let’s hear what the critics are saying…

We are incredibly grateful for the time and effort our wonderful reviewers and previewers put into these videos and articles.

We believe in pricing That's a Wrap at what it's worth, and that price is $29.  Because of this, all US backers will not be charged for any shipping fees.

We will be covering roughly $11 in total shipping per unit (based on estimates from Quartermaster Logistics), and intend to pass those savings onto our international backers as well.  Additionally, because we are working with Quartermaster Logistics, we are able to offer customs-friendly shipping to the USA, EU, Canada, Australia, and China.

If you want a copy of That's a Wrap, and your country is not included in the above list, please reach out and we will try to work out a solution.

RETAILER PLEDGE

We are happy to provide a pledge level for retailers, and these rewards will be fulfilled at the same time as all base pledge levels.  Pledging at this level represents a deposit for 6 copies of That's a Wrap and does not reflect the full charge of the shipping order.  These copies will include all Stretch Goals reached during the campaign.  Additional sets of 6 copies may be added in the pledge manager.  All backers at this pledge level will be verified before any orders are finalized.

And finally,

Biggest thanks to my siblings, Amber and Noah, for showing me how much fun this game could be, and my parents, for always being proud of the strange things I do.

If you made it this far, a huge thank you to you too, and we at Diacritical Games hope that you'll consider backing That's a Wrap!

Risks and challenges

Risks are inherent with Kickstarter, especially with first-time creators. However, while this may be the first Kickstarter project that I have created, I have been an active participant in the community for a while now. I have seen and backed many projects, and I have done a lot of due diligence in preparation for this campaign. I plan to work with WinGo Games for manufacturing and Quartermaster for logistics, two established companies in their respective industries.

That's a Wrap began three years ago, and has gone through extensive playtesting. I am proud to bring this game to Kickstarter and am confident in its design. For the financial and timeline estimates, I have chosen to be conservative, as it is my first campaign, and I want to make sure that all backers have the best possible results with no surprises (or at least as few as I can manage!). Our fulfillment estimate of December 2019 budgets time for stretch goal design, custom art, etc. I intend to run a transparent campaign, and I look forward to interacting with you throughout this entire process.
