About

This casual strategy game for 2-6 players is a diabolical brawl for bad-guy supremacy. 

A tabletop game built around customizable experiences, Diabrawlical features rules that you can alter any way you like, turning the game into something that you and everyone in your group can enjoy. In Diabrawlical, each player is a villain vying for bad-guy supremacy, attempting to accomplish the shared objective (hoarding treasure in your lair, kidnapping a princess, defeating the other villains in combat) before anyone else does. There are multiple modes built into the game, and the guidebook explains everything, making the many-variable system  simple for even the most casual players.

 The video depicts a prototype, not the finished product. 

Play as iconic villains and monsters, including the Vampire, Mummy, and Dragon! Each villain has special abilities they can use to defeat the others. The Mummy, buried with all his worldly possessions, can equip more items than the other villains. The Dragon can breath fire from a distance, dealing damage to foes before they have a chance to react. The Ogre is the strongest villain, and comes with a passive buff to Strength. 

There are alternate powers included for each villain. They all follow the same theme, items for the Mummy, Strength for the Ogre, etc. You can use the vanilla abilities for each villain, play without specialized villains, or use the alternate abilities. 



Rules and Mechanics

Exploration

One of the building blocks of Diabrawlical is that the gameboard is generated while the game is being played. For instance, when a villain moves, they have the option to move off of the board, this is called Exploring.

Whenever a villain chooses to explore, a map tile is selected from the stack and flipped face up and the villain is moved to the newly selected tile. Depending on what type of tile is revealed, different things happen.

Tile Types

There are four different types of tiles for Villains to land on.

 • Battle Tiles- create fights against different foes, like gallant knights, heroic wizards and defenseless peasants. 

Obstacle Tiles- contain an obstruction and the villain must overcome it to continue, such as, towns infected by the plague, rock slides and rebellious minion unions. 

Loot Tiles- contain different treasures to enhance your villain, including arcane weapons and cursed relics. 

• Blank Map Tiles- these represent an uneventful trip, nothing happens when these few tiles are revealed. 


Villain Stats

Each villain has 3 separate Stats representing their abilities in different areas. The 3 Stats are Strength, Magic and Wit.

Strength - How much oomph the villain can put behind a solid punch. This number is added when rolling for Battle Tiles, and when fighting other villains in the same Hexagon. Some Obstacle Tiles also use Strength when you roll for them. 

Magic - How powerful the villain is with spells and mojo. This number is added when rolling for Battle Tiles, and is used for making ranged attacks against other villains on adjacent hexagons. Magic is also used for some Obstacle Tiles.

Wit - Easily outwit and sway minions to your side, and find the best loot. For each point of Wit a villain has, they may look at an additional card when drawing for loot, then choose one card to keep. Some Obstacle Tiles also add your Wit to them.


Combat

Here is a brief videoexplaining the basics of combat. The version of the game we are using is a copy of the prototype. There are basically two forms of villain on villain combat, melee and ranged. Melee fights happen when two villains occupy the same tile. Ranged fights happen when a villain with Magic initiates a fight with a villain on an adjacent tile.

Objectives

There are multiple game modes to try out, each with its own way to win. 

In Hoard mode, villains race to collect treasure from Loot Tiles and bring them to their Fortress. The treasure tokens can be stolen from other villains during a fight, so watch your back. Leaving all your treasure at your Fortress isn't safe either, as other villains can steal treasure from your Fortress when you are out looking for more treasure.

Brawl Ball combines the best of sporting events with the evil of villainy. Villains kick the ball back and forth at each other, moving around and expanding the map in order to gain a better position. After all villains have taken their turns, a roll determines whether or not the ball explodes. If it does, all adjacent villains are blown away! Outmaneuver your foes to position them next to the ball when its about to go off in order to win this mode. Customize how often the ball explodes, you can even control a whole team of Mummies against a team of Dragons. There are dozens of options to tweak. 

Want to team up with your villainous pals instead of going head to head? Kingslayer is the mode for you. In this Co-op mode, all villains work together to defeat the heroic King of the Realm. Depending on how many players there are, the King gets different stats and equipment. Customize the number of lives the King has for a longer battle, or play with 2 villains each, its all up to you. 

Risks and challenges

As with all projects, it is possible that things come up beyond our control. Delays in the game's release may happen, but we will work hard to ensure that doesn't happen.
