CARTOON CHARACTER HELPS ANIMATE MILLIONS OF KIDS
The irony of sports & fitness here in the United States and around the world is this…on the one hand is millions of kids who enjoy playing sports and being active. On the other are millions of children who don’t participate in sports or fitness for one reason or another including not believing in themselves. The question is this; is there anyone who can effectively bridge this gap? The answer comes in the form of a nine year old boy named Dewey Does.
WHAT Does DEWEY DOES Do?
Dewey Does is that state-of-mind that empowers kids to give 110%; he is a nine-year old boy who loves sports and believes in giving 110% effort in every situation he experiences. Dewey Does adventures touch on everyday sports, educational, and lifestyle situations, specifically for kids four to twelve years old. Dewey’s imagination and his special relationship with his sports equipment engages young fans in journeys that span sports history, real life sports competitions, and daily challenges that kids face every day. Dewey Does never perceives anything as difficult or impossible. For every child there is a Dewey Does story waiting to be told. The Dewey Does world is meant to inspire children of all ages and all cultures to believe in themselves and to always give 110% effort.
A little about Dewey Does;
1. Independently sold over 35,000 books since 2003
2. Created the ‘What Does Dewey Does Do?’ Stage Show 2005 to promote the fight against childhood obesity
3. Performed in over 120 schools and youth community organizations in NY and Central NJ since 2005
4. Published 14 Dewey Does 110% Short Stories for parents and teachers to download and share with their children and students
5. DD books available in eBook formats for iPhone and Android since 2009
6. Book Distribution Partnership with Scholastic, Inc. since 2010
7. Partnered with NYC Dept. of Ed., District 88 ALC in NYC’s 5 boroughs with the Dewey Does fitness curriculum 2012
ABOUT THIS PROJECT

The object of the game is for the player to help Dewey Does (DD) catch as many objects within 110 seconds. In addition, players will receive bonus points by helping DD catch the rarely seen 110% symbol. There will be different levels for players to reach and high scores are posted on the DD leader board. When launched via Facebook, players will be able to see other scores and compete against others around the world.
Current levels in development:
1. Level one - sports equipment to keep Dewey Does active
2. Level two - fitness equipment to stay fit
3. Level three - healthy food groups to eat right and stay healthy
4. Level four - surprise bonus level to double and triple your score
5. Level five - the elusive 110% symbol. How much time do you need?
6. A new Dewey Does Sports, Fitness, Health & Wellness trivia question at each level and each time you play this game. Don't worry, comes with an Ask Dewey Does Hint button but they're not that hard just a whole lot of fun as you move up each level. As a matter of fact, with your $5 pledge you can add your own trivia question & answer to the Dewey Does 'Catch Them If You Can' game. FREE Dewey Does window decal for top 110 Q & A. 2. Kids use the internet to play games and learn
3. 97 percent of young kids play video games.

8. The Dewey Does message; cultural and environmental learning that goes on in video and computer games. At this level players learn about the world of the game and the values it represents
9. Players learn the right & wrongs of the game. For Dewey Does what’s fit & healthy; their moral and values in life
10. In addition, let's not forget adults love engaging games too. It's not just for kids, Dewey Does appeals to kids from 2 to 92
11. Finally, eighty percent (80%) of consumers follow a brand that is associated with a children’s charity or social cause – a national issue, Dewey Does fights childhood obesity promoting 110% health, fitness & wellness
LAUNCHING THE GAME
The Catch Them If You Can game, levels 1 & 2 are almost complete. Immediate use of the funding will be to complete and launch the first two levels of the 'Catch Them If You Can' game by late April or early May. The launch will initially take place on Facebook and the deweydoes.com website. We are also looking ahead to raise additional funds to complete levels 3, 4 and 5 by mid to late May 2012 and make them available on multiple platforms including iPhones and Androids. Hundreds of thousands of players will have fun earning points to convert into Dewey Dollars to use towards the purchase of wonderful selection of items in the Dewey Store.
By launching the 'Catch Them If You Can' game first it's our goal to offer levels one and two free; build up a following and then release levels 3, 4 and 5 in promotions or to generate income to improve and expand the game and invest into new games for fans all over the world.
WHY DO WE NEED YOUR HELP
The Dewey Does 'Catch Them If You Can' game is designed by both myself and Valerie Jenkins. It is our goal to keep the Dewey Does games simple, engaging, entertaining and educational for all players. By creating and producing the game, as well as keeping much of the work internal, we are able to control the cost to develop it. Peter Newman, president of LIT, and his staff have also been a great help with both the Dewey Does animations and the games, but they are not free.
Building games with character assets and animation takes a lot of time, effort and money. We need help to keep LIT on board, as well as bring on new talent to assist with scripts, character designs, and website development to say the least. Over the past eleven years I have worked tirelessly building the Dewey Does brand mostly from out of pocket as well as some help from friends. I believe the Dewey Does character can and will inspire kids of all ages, from 2 to 92, to eat the right foods and stay fit and active throughout their lives. Promoting 110% Health & fitness is the Dewey Does message from day one.
With your pledge Dewey Does will grow into a success story that will not only inspire others to dream, work hard and achieve their goals, but also inspire thousands, maybe even millions of kids all over the world with his 110% fitness message. Plenty of great incentives will be gained by supporting Dewey Does through this, including credits, books, logo tee shirts and more! All funds raised will be used towards the Dewey Does game completion and promotion.
THE FUTURE OF DEWEY DOES
Catch Your ABCs - Inspired by our popular Dewey Does ABCs Sports poster, we haven't forgot about our smaller children. Look for the Dewey Does 'Catch Your ABCs' game; will be complete by June with your help. Kids will have fun learning their ABCs along with matching Dewey Does stuff and fun sing along music. Look for updates at Dewey Does' website. The first 1000 new members to sign up for the DD 'Catch Your ABCs' game when launched will receive the Dewey Does ABCs Sports poster, FREE.
Animations - Although we started developing the Dewey Does animations first, we quickly learned that it's more cost effective to develop and launch the games to build brand awareness. After the Dewey Does games are successful, we will complete the animations which are already in the works. With a $5,000 pledge your own game character can appear in any of the below animations. Credits, recognition and your name in lights. Be a part of the history of Dewey Does.
2. A Monster ate my Sneakers - Dewey Does is determined to play ball on a wet Saturday.
3. Whose game is it anyway? - Parents become more excited at the kids games.
4. Universal Language - Dewey Does makes a new friend from a different country
5. Annda was her name - Find out how DD helps Annda (now Shy Annda thanks to Fussie Fran) gain confidence in her favorite sport
Apparel - Like what you see so far? Pledge for all four tee shirt designs during this Kickstarter campaign and receive a FREE Limited Edition Collectable 2012 Dewey Does All Sport bobble head for the Holidays. ...AND MUCH MORE IN THE WORKS!
OUR KICKSTARTER GOAL
Please understand, we want to make Dewey Does a great success for all children. The $25,000 goal is a lot less than what is needed, but it’s enough to build the first two levels and will set the path towards completing the first game and launching it. We are certain you can see our passion in the product; we are the creators, writers, editors, designers and planners and we love what we do but we are now having challenges keeping our current team due to lack of needed funds and we need to bring in new talent with specialty skills.
So, any additional funding will certainly allow us to expand our staff to help build a better game with more levels, more animation and access to larger markets. We have so many great ideas for Dewey Does and with the help of Kickstarter we look forward to making you apart of them.
SOME OF THE DEWEY DOES AWARDS FOR YOU
I'M A DEWEY DOES 110% KID! LOGO
Dewey Does is that state-of-mind that inspires all kids to do their best. A symbol that represents our beliefs, our attitude and our aspirations for our children to give 110% at whatever they do.
The Dewey Does logo with the extra-long brim hat represents all children in our community that work hard and play harder. It’s that child with his or her cap on backwards going to play ball or going to the ball park with their family; that child riding his or her bike holding their baseball bat and glove hanging on the end or basketball stuck under the bike seat with their reverse cap riding in the wind. Every community has them. There's a Dewey Does story in each and every one of us waiting to get out.
A symbol that speaks for all youth sports and activities; that child that loves to get out and play, run and have fun, that faceless child we all admire as they walk, run or ride by.
Help Dewey Does' 5,000 bumper magnet campaign distribution. Please order your car magnet from our Kickstarter campaign and display the Dewey Does 110% logo bumper magnet to show everyone that you are a Dewey Does 110% Kid.

Think of all the exciting stories that will be shared with thousands of Dewey Does fans about your character . Use your sports & fitness imagination and see your character in the above picture.
OUR 110% APPRECIATION
Keeping the Dewey Does games simple and relevant was our goal from the beginning. Although ideas were presented with more complicated games such as playing baseball, football or soccer against or with Dewey Does, we didn't think it displayed what the DD brand was all about; encouraging our youth to get out and play, be active and always be learning. The 'Catch Them If You Can' game offers many of these values.
The entire Dewey Does Team is extremely excited about the development of the Dewey Does games and feel that many more people around the world share the same values of creating positive and relatable entertainment which helps in fostering the young minds of children. There's a Dewey Does 110% story in each one of us and your pledge will prove that.
The Dewey Does brand is designed to give back to youth sports & activities through sponsorship programs, partners that share the same message, promotional giveaways and we will definitely remain apart of the Kickstarter family by supporting other great ideas. We look forward to receiving your pledge and will keep you up to date on Dewey Does’ games and 110% brand development.
Thank you for your support,
