Sharknado™: The Board Game! (Canceled)
The officially-licensed shark-slaying, city-saving cooperative game for 2-4 players!
To all our fans,
Thank you for this wild ride! We have decided to cancel this campaign for Sharknado: The Board Game!
You can read all about the reasons behind this decision and the future of the game in our 12th Update: It's Not Goodbye; It's See You Later.
Thank you again and be sure to stay in touch here and through our other hangouts as we work towards making the game you want.

There’s a storm brewing, the likes of which has never been seen around these parts. The sky grows dark. Dogs are hiding beneath beds. The old folks feel it in their arthritic knees.
It’s a Sharknado, and it’s heading right for your fair coastal city!
Sharknado™: The Board Game! is a cooperative game in which you and up to three other friends take on the role of brave citizens protecting your city from the ultimate weather phenomenon. Choose a scenario and strategize with your team to win the day. Your goal may be to destroy the Sharknado, hunt down a deadly Boss Shark, or simply survive as long as you can. Scavenge the city for weapons and equipment to help you fight off swarms of teeth and fins as you struggle to stay alive!
You know what you have to do. But will you be the next Fin Shepard, or just another victim of the most bizarre catastrophe the world has ever seen? Survive and become a legend, or end up as the contents of a shark’s stomach!
There’s so much bite in this box it can barely be contained! Each Retail edition of Sharknado™: The Board Game! contains everything you see in the graphic below:
If you pledge at the Sharknado! level or higher, you will also receive a copy of The Backer Pack, a collection of all limited-edition content and Kickstarter-created exclusives not included in the core game, at no additional cost! Each time we complete a community goal by taking pictures, creating videos and just generally being fans, we'll add that content to The Backer Pack. See Unlock More Carnage! below...
(Sharknado™: The Backer Pack’s availability is limited to the initial print run only. Extra copies will be available to non-backers following the end of this campaign at an additional cost, while supplies last.)
All content unlocked during this campaign marked "Sharknado™: The Board Game!" will be included with every core game printed. Those marked with "The Backer Pack" will be added to the contents of The Backer Pack (shown above).

Testimonials & Reactions
"Sharknado: the Board Game! is definitely a game for people who love to play games. Not only does it require communicative skills and cooperation, but it also asks its players to think strategically to beat the Sharknado. Its cooperative style is played in the same vein as games such as Pandemic or Dead of Winter. We are definitely looking forward to playing this again!" - Game and a Curry
"The scenario felt very true to something you would see in a Sharknado movie – an absurd story that makes no logical sense, but fits into the Sharknado world perfectly ... The game does a solid job of making you feel like you are actually working together to achieve a common goal." - The Chubby Meeple
"Sharknado is exactly the kind of game I wanted it to be: chaotic, absurd, and, above all, fun as hell. My Mexican wrestler had shinguards, a bike helmet, and a chain gun--and he and his friends saved the city... And beyond the insanity that is the theme, there's a really good co-op game that rewards multiple play styles. I'll be playing Sharknado very, very often." - Doug Levandowski, co-designer of Gothic Doctor and UnPub: The UnPublished Card Game and designer of You're Fired and Seven Minutes in Hell
"Every so often a game comes along that makes you look back at all that has been created and you wonder, 'Why hasn't anyone done this before?' This might be that game." - Tim Mattes, Games on Tape
“Sharknado is a great game that will call out to both fans of the film and game players alike. I'll never forget facing down a murder storm of sharks while missing an arm. It was close, but we came out on top. The characters, items and abilities are (ir)reverent enough to make the game fun, even if you're losing.” - Ben Begeal, No one of consequence
"Sharknado is a game that knows its audience. If you enjoy the movies, you'll revel in the game experience. Also, the gear/dice system is sweet." - Jay Treat, game designer
"Why?" - SMIF Networks
Previews & Reviews
Sharknado™: The Board Game! is a new take on the co-op adventure genre. Even though it takes place in the Sharknado™ universe, all of the Characters, and most of the scenarios, are completely original. Fans of the films will find familiar weapons, themes, and parallels, while gamers that haven't yet enjoyed the movies have appreciated the strategy and combat system.
While we’ve had this game favorably likened to Dead of Winter, the Forbidden games, Zombicide, and others, we'd like to point out some noteworthy features of Sharknado™: The Board Game!
- No specific turn order - The game plays in two phases: the Player phase and the Sharknado phase. During the Player phase, you and your team can take actions in whatever order works best for your strategy.
- AI-controlled Sharknado - The Sharknado is controlled by its own AI deck. Each turn it will move multiple times, rain sharks from the sky, flood the city, and cause carnage.
- Loss of limbs - Just like in the movies, airborne sharks are hungry. Losing arms and legs will slow you down, but don’t lose your head or you’re dead!
- Create your own story - We’ve included 8 scenarios in the base game, each with two difficulties, but we’ll also include tips on creating your own scenarios for infinite replayability.

Playtesters: We'd be remiss if we didn’t also mention all of our local lead playtesters. We owe them a huge debt for the countless nights they arrived excited and ready to play through game and scenario iterations over and over again. They helped form the foundation this game was built upon. Risks and challenges
Sharknado™: The Board Game! is essentially done; our design is complete, art is nearly so, and aside from some additional content from stretch goals and the Backer Pack, our game will be ready for the journey to our printer shortly after the end of this campaign.
Furthermore, this ain’t our first rodeo! We’re working with one of the best game printing companies in the biz, so we’re confident our game is in good hands.
All that being said, there can be (and often are) unexpected production and shipping delays beyond our control, but we’ll stay abreast of any potential delays and promise to keep an open line of communication with you along the way. All we need is to fulfill our Kickstarter goal so that we can get your game off to production and into your hands as soon as possible!
Sharknado™: The Board Game! has been designed and developed with full support and license from Syfy and The Asylum, but we ask that all backers acknowledge that the final content is subject to change from what is presented here based on approval and expectations.
