****NEW EXCLUSIVE COVER SAMPLE IMAGE!****
Since the demise of humanity, the remaining animal life have become intelligent and the spark of rational thought creates an internal struggle for the creatures. Do they embrace reason... or follow their savage animal instincts?
Squarriors is the creation of writer Ash Maczko and artist Ashley Witter (Also known as "Team Ash").
We're raising money to help Team Ash produce Squarriors #1, titled "Teeth and Nails," - a full 32 page, full color story (32 pages of art!) - and if we reach a certain threshhold, may open the campaign up to further issues. As you can see Ashley's art is extremely intensive (just look at those interiors below!), and Maczko has put a tremendous amount of time and effort into building a rich background and history around the characters. Devil's Due intends to release the series later this Winter, but just how much story we can give you, and how much of an impact Squarriors will be able to make is determined in large part to the generosity of backers like you. In return, you'll get some super killer exclusives that will not be available in the regular stores.
Our overall goal is to produce four mini-series of Squarriors stories. Each representing a season in a single year. The first 4-issue series being, "Spring."
By pledging you're helping ensure Squarriors is as good as it can possibly be, and that it's given the push needed to succeed in the competitive comic market.
Devil's Due has already begun spreading the word about Squarriors online, at comic-cons and at comic shop appearances across the country, but we're still an independent operation, and to really give this the attention it deserves, and allow Ashley to spend the time on it that's required, it can only happen with your help.
And beyond that? Who knows? Squarriors is a rich story filled with deep characters and complex relationships, mysterious exploration of a post-human world that is - bombshell - frozen in 1986, populated with thousands upon thousands of animal clans.
Risks and challenges
Devil's Due has a very good history of delivering its projects and fulfilling rewards, and Team Ash have a reputation as professionals. Witter is extremely prolific, having illustrated large graphic novel projects over 150 pages, and several issues of other comics.
But we understand that circumstances out of our control may happen such as “Acts of God,” Haleys Comet coming by ahead of schedule and wiping out humanity, etc. It is always possible that printing and manufacturing delays can happen, product can get lost in the shipping process, or human error may cause something to not be sent.
That's why Devil's Due Entertainment has worked so hard to create an iron-clad system and even its own Kickstarter coordinator to cater to backers. Each person receives a PHYSICAL file folder that backs up our digital, keeping a record of what has been sent, what is still pending, and any problems that may have transpired post-reward-sending.
We're in this for the long haul and see crowdfunding as an important component in the publishing of the future. We want you back for many more campaigns in the future, and that only happens if you're happy with how this one goes!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
