Inspiration: Theatre Director Enoch Chan and Choreographer Kimmie Dobbs Chan team up to create their 5th evening length work, creature, inspired by a love for zombies, the uranus-pluto square, the US government shutdown, and the faint but ever present smell of apocalypto in current social consciousness.
The Story: The main characters are nostalgic echoes of a less complex 'age of industry' against the backdrop of a progressed 'digital age'. They navigate a non-linear timeline, filled with unpredictable creatures and man-made creations, at once hauntingly familiar yet unexplainably strange. Life itself, in all its definitions, hangs in the balance.
Target Dates: The creation will be in two installments. We intend to present a 20-25 minute preview of this production at Atlas INTERSECTIONS Festival [Washington, DC] on February 28th, 2014... and we anticipate full premiere later in summer 2014 at The Breaking Glass Project [NYC]. Additional performances will be scheduled.
Evolution: We are at the very beginnings of this project. We have created a sketch of first characters which has tested well with audiences and are highlighted in our video above. We intend to create several other types of characters to inhabit this world and finish writing the story.
Campaigns: This kickstarter is specifically to fund the creation phase of this project over the next 9 months. Subsequent fundraising campaigns will cover additional anticipated expenses (such as transportation of cast to NYC for our summer 2014 show!) Any surplus obtained now will be greatly appreciated and put us ahead!
Sponsorship: Your support will go directly towards the following elements of project creation: TRAINING & REHEARSAL, in the form of aerial and stilt lessons, rehearsal space rental, operation costs (including insurance), and more... STUFF, such as aerial apparatus, power stilts, set materials and construction, costumes, kickstarter rewards (calendars, cards, photos, etc), marketing materials (like post-cards) and more... LABOR & SERVICES, rights and licenses, as well as stipends for the ceaseless dedication of our entire creative team and performing artists.
Remember it's all or nothing! We need to reach our $10,000 goal to receive any of the funds! Let's make it happen! We are genuinely excited about where we can go together!

Risks and challenges
To deviate means to 'depart from the norm'. For us this is a call to create, to try new things, and to invite happy accidents (which are fertile ground for genuine breakthroughs). It is a willingness to accept what comes, including any unforeseen obstacles, and to use them as a call to deviate, to innovate, to stretch our imagination and resolve, and to press forward on the path. It means to stay committed by being flexible, evolving as circumstances shift and change, which means to survive (and hopefully also to thrive!). It is to stay true to that little voice in the back of our heads known as intuition and integrity, to trust in that uniqueness and awkwardness that endows each of us with singular gifts, as a guiding light when the road gets tangled. And therefore, we promise to adapt and deviate when necessary, to ensure that we deliver. Thank you for your sponsorship!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
