- 16 ⅞” inches of pure organization (the same width as a full size Apple keyboard)
- About 3 inches deep and 2 tall (tucks nicely behind your keyboard)
- 2.5 lbs of all-aluminum construction (only moves when you want it to)
- Anodized finish (looks great next to Apple gear)
- Resilient foam cushions (grip and protect)
- Cabling channel and removable side doors (for easy routing of cables)
- Non-marring silicon feet (protect your desk and allow cords to pass under the Rail)
Bringing Order to Desk Chaos
Despite the fact that more and more of our work as creative professionals happens in the digital realm, our trusted friends pen and paper aren’t going anywhere. The intersection between our physical and digital work is our desks, a jumbled zone of various materials and input devices.
In an effort to bring some order and simplicity to our work-spaces, we’ve designed the Desk Rail, a stylish and functional desk assistant, designed to organize everything right at your fingertips. While the Desk Rail appears very simple at first look, its attributes are numerous.
Everything in Its Place
The Desk Rail was designed to centralize the things you need most and present them in an organized way. Inspired by the magnetic knife strip found in professional kitchens, we wanted users to be able to quickly find and access their stuff. From pens and pencils, to Post-Its, erasers, and Moleskins, the Desk Rail neatly organizes everything.
A relative newcomer to the workspace is the now ubiquitous smartphone. No matter the brand of smartphone, the Rail positions it so you can quickly glance down to check alerts. In addition, we’ve included a channel on the Desk Rail that allows users to add a charging or sync cable.
Switch It Up
Tucked behind your keyboard, the Desk Rail lets you quickly switch from one tool to the next with a contained, natural movement. This is especially helpful for Wacom tablet users. The size, angle, and padding material in the channel have all be carefully designed and tested to provide a soft landing, making it easy to drop off an item without looking down.
Trying to reference notes and sketches while using a computer can become a real pain in the neck, literally. Looking down and to the side, then back up, is neither intuitive nor comfortable. The Desk Rail can be used to hold printed materials, tablets, or other reference materials right in front of you.
We Need your Support
Following over a year of development and prototyping, sourcing and testing of materials, and building relationships with great vendors, our team is ready to put the Desk Rail into production. This is where Kickstarter comes in. Design is complete and the manufacturing is ready to begin, but we need help funding the tooling and initial production run.
Back us on Kickstarter and be one of the first to have a Desk Rail organizing your desktop! In addition to the original Desk Rail, we are also offering a few special editions:
- The super-sized Draft Rail - at 36 inches long, it's more than twice the length of the original... now that's a lot of organization!
- Black Anodized edition (limited quantity)

Risks and challenges
Presently, the Desk Rail design is complete, and after thorough research and analysis, we’ve selected great vendors to produce it. The biggest risk at this point is the production schedule, but our team is committed to produce the Rail in a timely manner. We’re confident we’ve produced a realistic timeline for production.
If there’s any other questions or concerns, please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org, and we’ll be happy to respond.
Thanks so much for checking out the Desk Rail. We hope to be on your desk soon, bringing order to desk chaos.
