It's been precisely one year since the Division Furtive dual linear wrist watches Kickstarter campaign has been funded! The year went by SO fast!
Right after this update is posted, an email will be sent to all the people who reserved a Division Furtive Type 46 watch. Things are getting real and the deposits are required to move forward since I cannot make new progress without buying actual production parts, especially the Swiss-made miniature motors. Below are pictures of the final prototype No. 000 (you can see the high-resolution version of the picture if you click it).
With respect to the original design presented in this Kickstarter campaign, here are the things that will be different in the production units based on things I've learned during development:
- Li-ion rechargeable battery instead of AAA (spare battery and charger included). The rechargeable battery life is just as long as the non-rechargeable battery (still hoping between 6 to 12 months depending on usage). Non-rechargeable AAA battery cannot supply enough current for reliable motor operation therefore the motivation to move to li-ion.
- Stainless steel casing with black PVD instead of sterling silver with nano-ceramic coating. Moving to stainless steel because silver is too soft.
- Sapphire for the front and back crystal (instead of front sapphire and back mineral glass as originally announced). Why not :)
- Piano finish black wooden box (as shown below) instead of safe box. The safe box shown in the campaign's video turned out to be impractical for many reasons, especially during shipping.
This is the last official update for this Kickstarter campaign (all the terms of the campaign have been met). In the future, I'll be in touch with the Type 40/46 collectors via email. If you wish to contact me, please visit the Division Furtive website and use the contact form.
Thanks to everyone for the support, I'll be forever grateful to every single person that contributed and made this project a reality...I cannot thank you enough.
