Hey everyone, we are Desi and Cody!! For those of you who know us, we just want to say we love you so much and appreciate all the support you've given us every step of the way on our musical journey together!!! For those of you who don't know us, we'd like to explain a little bit about who we are...
First and foremost, we are two people. Two people that happen to play music together. Two people that also happen to be in love with each other!! We are getting married this October, and oddly enough, around the same time we plan on having finished the process of making our first full-length record together!! Needless to say it has been quite an adventure getting here. We needn't get into the details of how we met, or when we started playing together. If you would like to know a little bit more about that you can visit our website at www.desiandcody.com.
Now we would like to explain a little bit more about what we are doing here on Kickstarter. Making records is fun!! Fun indeed, but quite costly. Especially if you want to make a product that is of a professional quality that will be up to the standard needed to be played on radio stations and placed in films and television shows. Many of you know that we were able to put together a couple of solo EP's (Dog Days Comin/In the Dead of Summer) The reason for this was simply because it is much more cost effective to record an EP than a full length album... less songs, less studio time, less on the pocket-book. The recording process is completed in essentially 3 steps: 1. Principle Recording 2. Mixing 3. Mastering Each of which are of paramount importance, none of which are easily accomplished.
Being from Tulsa, we couldn't think of a better place to record the album than The Church Studio. So many of our favorite artists have recorded there, from J.J. Cale, to Eric Clapton, to Tom Petty, to the man who once owned the studio, Leon Russell!! We were able to record most of the record there, and have only a few things to finish up before principle recording is complete. We are so happy with what we have so far, but there is still a long road ahead!! Although most of the actual recording process has been paid for, we still need to pay the rest of what we owe as well as pay for the crucial Mixing and Mastering processes. Not to mention the fact that we need to cover the cost of pressing the album onto CD's and.... wait for it..... VINYL!!!! :)
This is where you come in!!! We need your help to make this happen. The days of big record labels paying for everything are all but long gone.(and we don't miss them!) By pledging to the project, you are making it possible for us indie kids to make albums without having to sell our souls!! But we are not asking for handouts. By pledging, you will receive one of a number of Rewards we have made available to you, such as, but not limited to:
1. An Early Download of the new Album
2. An Kickstarter exclusive recording of our tune "Ode to Hipsters"
3. A Desi and Cody tote filled with Desi and Cody mechandise such as: VIP tickets to the CD release show, and a signed copy of the new CD and Vinyl, a signed limited edition Desi and Cody Poster
4. A private concert in your home
5. A song written specifically for you by Desi and Cody
And much more!!!
By pledging to buy our new album and/or merchandise in advance, you are making it happen. You guys will be responsible for the existence of the first Desi and Cody full length record!! The best part is, the only people we have to please with our product is you!!! No record execs, no A&R people, nobody but you!! If you decide to pledge we thank you SO MUCH!!! We would be nothing without you.

Risks and challenges
Whew!! Where do we begin!!
We began recording this album in our home, with two engineers, and an old Otari Reel to Reel Tape Machine. Boy, O Boy. 2 weeks, and more technical problems than we'd like to get into. After spending hundreds of dollars on Analog Tape, and countless hours recording Bass and Drums, we discovered that the machine had been changing speeds. Making everything we had recorded unusable!!! How discouraging!! That was when we decided to head to Historic Church Studios and get a fresh start.
Another challenge we face after recording is the costly process of getting publicity and promotion for the record. Luckily, we have a great manager, and if it this project is overfunded, we may be able to get some really great exposure for the album!!
