Have a question?
Also I should get 2 Steam keys as I backed at that level. So 1 key I can give to my son.
I noticed this is on Steam now? How do I get my Steam Key please?
To work this well and be so fun in this stage of development is impressive to say the least. When can I start using my Oculus DK2? And will I be able to use my TM Hotas Warthog?
Hi Matt, only players with alpha and/or pre-alpha access are able to play just now. However, given the speed of the devs, beta will be up soon ;)
I can't seem to get set up with my beta access who can I contact about this?
It will run pretty well on a medium spec machine, with say an Nvidia 560 card, and an I5 processor, but it is best to run it on Ultra with an I7, some good amount of Ram and a 780+ graphics card - but it should be fun regardless - and you can customize your settings.
Could you recommend system specs needed to run this game? I will probably need to upgrade my PC!
Ideally specs to run it "well" =)
Big week in review.
@Richard We were testing out some discount features - go here to see what the discussion was about and how it ended up.
Great discussion and the resolution with the community involved worked for everyone.
@Descendent Studios - That's not right, I paid $85 for my "I Did It My Way package" during the KS and now it's available post KS with 15% off and all the same benefits! Why did I back this project? I would like to be reimbursed 15% please. :-(
No worries - just put in No address - the survey is pretty generic.
I see there is a reward survey to complete some details to get our rewards. I backed the MATERIAL DEFENDER $35 tier, which was all digital goods, but your survey is asking for my home address, which I would rather not hand out.
Is there a chance you can change the survey requirements? Thanks.
Very Quiet in here - hope everyone has migrated over to our forums !
BIG THANKS !
Ooops - yes, Subscription is just a voluntary access to the Devs type of deal - nothing required to play the game.
(1) the "subscription" has nothing to do with the game. The subscription allows you access to developer meetings, special streams, things like that. It's community/fan type stuff that's not at all gameplay-affecting. As has been stated explicitly by the devs multiple times, if you bought the game, you do not have to pay another dime for anything ever. The majority of the information from the streams will be openly discussed on the forums after the fact; the subscription just means you get to listen real-time. (If you don't want the subscription but you do want alpha/beta, you can buy those for considerably less than $79.)
(2) The $35 package is still worth $35 in the other store -- it's the $25 package (which was also available here) plus the $10 beta add-on.
(3) The other store allows people to keep pledging for the game post-kickstarter, either at the same price as the KS or at a slightly higher price. You can also use it to add to your kickstarter package (if you want to add alpha access to a package that didn't have it, you just go to that store and buy alpha as an add-on. If you want some t-shirts, buy some t-shirts. And so on.)
Please can you respond to these comments. Its important.

I honestly have no idea what this post means. Are you saying that the game is now subscription based - and with high-premium subscription model launched before the game is even in Alpha?
I know I'm a lowest-lever backer - a fan of old Descent single player campaigns who just wanted to follow where the project is headed. If the direction was to be good, I might have purchased the full game once I got myself a non-potato PC. However, if the way I read this announcement holds true, I'm disappointed already. I hope I just misunderstood this announcement.
Clearing up the confusion via a confirmation - one way or the other - would be nice.

Talk about bait and switch, take my money, then tell me that I can pay a substantial amount more for extra benefits. This should have been front and centre during the campaign. Whole thing smells bad, I wouldn't have backed the game if these costs were explained at the outset; or maybe that was the plan? :(

Will DU now be a subscription based game. If so, I certainly would not have backed this game if I knew this.

I think I have this now.
So basically my $35 package is now worth $25 in the new pledge store. Awesome!
Then I have to pay another $79 to $99 per YEAR to read the inside information on what is happening with the game development forum and to get alpha access.
I am not impressed!

Can the week in review info be put here? I don't bother following blogs.

Exactly.. How does this affect backers? Not clear on this either.

How does this new store affect us backers?
Make sure you come to our website and register - we need to get all the info to fulfill our pledges, especially T-shirts etc.
Funding is at 613k. You can still pledge on the web site.
For anyone interested in card games, check this one out.
For anyone interested in RPGs check this one out. It has a Solomon Kane vibe.
@Everyone we are working on migrating the data - which is no small task should be by the end of the month.
I know there up, but it's only bots
Yo, when will our kickstarter pledge be reflected on your Descent Studio web site? -src
@Ryan, it's too early to have the system specs nailed down. But we know it's the Unreal 4 engine, which requires a quad-core processor, 8 GB RAM, and a dx11-compatible 3D card. We don't know if D:U will require higher specs than that, as it's presently not particularly optimized and still in the earliest phases of development.
Is there anywhere the expected system requirements for gameplay are listed? I didn't see it anywhere.
D3 servers are still up. Visit the list here: http://d3.descent.cx/tracker.d3
And even more strange, is making them required fields, forcing me to put something in them to finish it.
What was with the survey questions? "What prompted you to back at the level you did?" "Have you registered at our website?" Really? I've backed many projects, and not one of them have asked anything remotely along those lines. Those are some strange questions to put in the rewards survey.
It be awesome if you could bring up some d3 servers for us to fene out on until this game comes out.
Gary - we want to do that, talking about how to handle it in the new store.
Gary Marks: Good question! The website store at Descendent Studios will be undergoing some changes and upgrades going forward. There will be numerous additions on way. Make sure that you register with the site, stay involved with the community and check back often!
Any chance you guys will offer a ship pack upgrade/add on, so we can add ships to our pledge? I bought a four pack but couldn't really afford a four pack with extra ships for everyone.
So glad we did it! Can not wait to play this game!
Did you actually have a typo on typo on your typo message you sent out? I think you meant typo but typed type.
@Robin Edgar: Kickstarter's survey system is rather primitive. It only allows a project to send one single survey to all backers and this only one time. Thus they had to compromise with a survey form, that fits all backers.
Hi, I just received an email asking for my personal information so you can ship me my reward. Considering my pledge (EARLY BIRD: MATERIAL DEFENDER) is purely digital content, I don't understand why this is being asked of me. Why do you want my home address?
@Geoffrey, actually SpaceOrb used a serial port, and there's an open-source project called "orbduino" that allows you to use it on a USB port. Do a Google on it. Oh, how invigorating it would be to use the SpaceOrb on new Descent...20 years on!!! :)
For those who haven't done so yet, register for a forum profile and continue the conversation with an amazing community!
Congratulations Descendent Studios ! ;) I'm so happy ! :)
IT'S HAPPENING http://media0.giphy.com/media/rl0FOxdz7CcxO/giphy.gif
Congrats! Will pick up some more bits later like the art book and soundtrack. Wasn't in the position to do it in time for the end.
@Matt Legowski, @Eminus Sleepus
Ah. Well I stand corrected then. Thanks! :)
Yay! You all had me worried there. Looking forward to 2016!
...and I really hope this one includes good Oculus Rift support. That would be amazing!
That was too close for comfort ;-)
Good luck guys. And keep those videos coming ;)
Just awesome! Well done guys! We spread the word and encouraged the peeps..!
Wow that was close! Congrats.
Congratulations to the Descendent Studios team for the successful Kickstarter campaign!
Remember, the pledging continuous on http://descendentstudios.com/store
and there are still stretchgoals to be achieved:
$625,000: Shaman (repair ship)
$650,000: Torch (light combat ship) for every backer
$675,000: Warlock (technical specialist ship)
Nice! GJ everyone! :)
