Have a question?
I’d rather wait several years for a good game than have an average one right away. Keep doing what you’re doing, and good luck.
@MCC - yes, there is no getting around that fact. Blame me, I wanted a much bigger game for a proper Re-imagining of the beginnings or Origin of Descent. And we went to EA far too soon, which basically slowed development down. All of those items, were my call. At the end though, we will deliver more than promised, and something that Descenters can be proud of - so for the tardiness, my humble apologies.
Just two years behind schedule *sighs*
@patrick Karjala - we will be out this fall on all platforms, PC, XBox1, PS4, Linux, Mac etc. Great news on Overload, those guys made the original and inspired us to take up rebooting Descent. Ours is a little bit larger in scope, and took a bit longer - but in the end, I am certain that BOTH games will be worth playing and that is great news for all Six Dof fans, even if it did take us a bit longer than we hoped.....in the end, lessons learned and the game will be good.....hopefully everyone will like it.....and play overload too, and solar warden, let's bring Six Dof back so folks can have tons of them to play.
So when will we see the release of the game? Overload is out on the 31st of this month. They were funded March 2016. Underground was funded April 2015.
I think you guys will like how it plays, we will be putting out a release this summer for early backers to test out and give us feedback on movement etc....we have already fixed the mouse movement on our end, but it is not in the public facing build...will be when the next release happens. I think you guys are going to like progressing through various ships with their abilities and tech trees, and how the game feels - tons of progress on that - and SP is very diverse - a good storyline with some fun objectives, much richer than we had in the originals - as time and ability of our tech has progressed, we wanted to take advantage and give you more to do.....join us this summer in playtesting that, and get your word in on our website at www.descentunderground.com
See you in the mines !
I had forgotten all about this game LOL
Hmm.... . Nice little video.... nice looking bots and level design. BUT, that was never your problem, guys. The PLAY, the FEEL, the 2D looking weapon shots and powerups and all your "holo" stuff just looks cheezy. Sorry, there are MANY things that I really like about the game, but I did drop out of the "Underground" and did refrain from backing more money because I was pretty pissed you dropped SP for the first two years of development. It WAS a sticking point with me.
Now I see you have come around. WOOHOO!! If you can make the game PLAY like Descent and LOOK truly 3D then I'll be back. Plain and simple. I WOULD HONESTLY love to be able to beta test the new stuff. If you can WOW your big critics, you can pull this one out! I KNOW there is POTENTIAL. I wanna see it succeed! Seriously, WM... bigtime. I wanna see TWO different Descent games available to play. And obviously they WILL be different. TWO big Descent remakes would be awesome. I wanna see you guys out there kicking butt too, but the past experience has been disappointing. I DO still load up the last build I have (3370) and mess with it. But I would love to see an update to that. It WILL NOT happen with Brightlocker as the incredible SPAM I got from them chased me off. I hope you will have backer-updates soon to see what the new stuff looks like.
Hey, that kinda thing SAVED Overload. What about it guys? Shall we see what you have accomplished? What you have polished?
Cool Bots? YES!
Cool Levels? YES!
Cool PLAY? THAT is what we are waiting to see!
Toss us a bone?
The Blarney awaits....
I have a comment having tracked this without commenting for the most part:
Your art assets (particularly in the quick snapshot in the latest update) are very, very nice, and the game is very nice looking, as you seem to comment on / emphasize a lot.
But when I tried it, it played very, very poorly. I know there have been a lot of updates since, but I really think this should be the primary point of emphasis, not more "window dressing" on the visuals.
Does that make sense? I love the effort you guys put in, but you've got to nail the basic mechanics (flying of the ship, movement of weapon shots, and just overall feel when playing) before you focus on all the peripherals!
Great that you've seemingly got a partner with funding and can push forward, but imo this should be the major focus! Hope this feedback comes how it is intended, to be constructive and helpful from someone who is a big fan of the concept, but so far did not like the game itself very much...
@Tyler - what is your configuration, that was fixed ages ago....maybe drop by our website so we can help you debug? www.descentunderground.com
As a $400+ backer there's only one thing I ever wanted and I never got.
That was menus that didn't look designed in MS Paint and to have the mouse actually select what it hovered over, and not what was 20 pixels beneath it. Filed the bugs previously, was ignored.
To be honest? Regret it.
We are in the process of working on the SP campaign - and getting it ready to deliver fairly soon. We have chosen to go dark once we signed with Little Orbit to help us focus on delivering a great experience - especially SP, when we did the KS all we could do was a prologue, now we are doing a much larger story based campaign. Our team has grown, the game is vastly different, and I believe you guys will like it, and won't have to wait to much longer.....also we are going to be out on PC, Xbox1, and PS4 - which should build the audience and help us REBOOT Desenct properly. I truly wish we had some of the old assets, but alas, we don't those were in dispute between Interplay and the Parallax guys, so we will be rebooting with a prequel - which we hope you like. We will have some updates coming on how we can get the Alpha and Beta testers into the game early to help us test those features.....it has been a LONG and winding road - but ultimately if the game is worth it....we will all get to enjoy a pollished game.
I am original KS backer who played all the old Descent there are on a PC. This is the second strike( BrightLocker & nor Little Orbit) against ever seeing my KS backing completed. Remember perfection is unobtainable, for actual V1.0 (SP & MP) release, good enough will work for most KS backers. Updates will fix the remaining issues and engage the Descent players. Stop fretting over pixels in doorways and portals and get the story( SP and MP versions) done, no more pictures of how awesome this or that is and talk about real content related to game play for SP and MP users.
You do not have to respond to every query, complaint, comment of problems with early releases, especially when you state the this an early release and your milage may vary. I had to wait until the early releases started and stopped and started working again through Steam on my MacBook, this the pain and reward of early release versions.
A phased platform release will satisfy the KS backers since I suspect they were most interested in either PC or MAC versions, consoles are fun but limiting in control and the range of possibilities.
Just my $0.02, see you upside down in the maze.
I hate to ask this during the holidays, but is there any chance for a refund?
I honestly keep forgetting I backed this project, and every time I remember and look at what updates there are, I just can't help but feel disappointed and deeply worried that it is going to pull a Mighty No. 9. I want to believe this will be a welcome new addition to the genre, and I hope it will be, but my confidence is kind of shattered about it right now.
Hi - While that is great news, the backers here need some sort of a real update. Remember, when we backed your project, expected delivery was March 2016. It's now the end of 2017, and I don't think that some sort of a real update is being at all unreasonable.
Thanks for keeping at it, it is really appreciated. Can't wait!
I just saw that now, that's pretty amazing for you guys and for sure for us!!!
@nitro - did you see the announcement today? We signed a deal with Little Orbit so we can deliver a full Single player campaign, and publish boxes, as well as be on both consoles.
Can we get an update?
Please and thank you.
Game is out on Early Access on Steam - you can play Single player vs bots, you can play co-op vs bots, you can play survival as SP or Co-op vs bots, you can play 10 maps with 9 different game types versus other players. See you in the mines.
So, the update telling us where you are, says that you're so far away you need to bring in "a lot more developers", and you'll tell us more "in the months to come".
Honestly, after six months of nothing, and over a year after your estimated date, to be told only that you need a lot more developers for months to come, is enough to make me think that all your words about delivering were just hot air.
I want a refund: I don't believe you're ever going to make this game.
New update - Telling folks where we are, and a lot more cool stuff on the way, including Single Player....should be fun....
When will Descent be working again on my MacBook Pro with Sierra 10.12.5? I posted a bug, but no response. I get "This version is incompatable with the current environment." error. I have tried rebooting and uninstalling and reinstalling Descent all without success.
Well I can say at least the developers followed through on this.
Another fun game needing help to get backed. Fort Triumph - Tactical RPG
Hardcore tactical turn-based gameplay.
Fully Interactive environments at your disposal.
Heroes evolving by learning new abilities from their class skilltree.
Non-linear, contextually generated missions and quests.
Strategic gameplay and world map exploration.
We are not going to guess, we are working on Single player, should not be too long.
Do you have a target for final release date? I tried a early version, but I think it was too early. I'm looking forward to when single player is fully complete. Any guess on timeline would be appreciated =)
@Joel - yes, if you hit us up on our website and you have not activated it yet on Steam or on our site then we will get you hooked up on GOG. Eventually we will be able to hook all versions up but we are waiting on GOG to implement that feature for us.
@Poz - thanks a ton - should be even better now.
Since it's out on GOG now, will backers get access to that version as well, whether through GOG Connect or a separate key?
Hey, was just playing with the rift. Huge improvement from a few months ago. Amazing work! EXTREMELY HAPPY I BACK YOU GUYS!
@Everyone - if you have not linked your Kickstarter account to our website, please do so now, all you have to do is find your backer number and then click the link on our website at Descentunderground.com and get the game....you can even link your steam account by selecting your account name on the forums and the drop down tab to game and do it there.....come in the mines, play some survival, or co-op vs bots, or perhaps multiplayer is your thing, the game is solid, fun, and growing....
@Chris McMahon - cockpit has been in and working for a month or so - as to weather you spew - well....can't say, we are more of a roller coaster than a cutesy Job simulator - so...that is all tolerance...and VR legs - but we have thousands playing with VR without spewing so.....
Have they fixed the missing cockpit frame for VR or is this game stil a vomit comet?
Final 3 hours! Confirmed for Windows, Linux, Playstation 4, and Xbox One.
Three stretch goals already met.
Remaining stretch goals include: additional rooms and groves, full orchestral soundtrack, full map editor, original source code is open sourced, full mod support, full art book, additional death scenes, and V.R. support.
@Justin & @Kristy - it is in Steam Early Access you can play it now while we are still developing it. Find out more at our webpage: www.descentunderground.com
Has the game been released?
I thought this was coming with a Steam release, I haven't received a Steam key though... :?
Obviously we are all Descent fans here. Like Trent DeRoc said, Overload needs all the help it can get in order to get funded. There's enough room in our Descent loving lives for two spiritual successors of this beloved series. Please go pledge and try the teaser demo at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/revivalprod/overload-the-ultimate-six-degree-of-freedom-shoote to get a sense of how amazingly "Descent" Overload really is!
If you guys are big fans of Descent, you are going to love Overload! Overload is a campaign-based spiritual successor to Descent made by the developers responsible for the ORIGINAL Descent. Check it out here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/revivalprod/overload-the-ultimate-six-degree-of-freedom-shoote
New build is out - lots of new features, Descent Underground is taking Descent into the 2000s for an all new generation of gamers to enjoy.
This comment has been removed by Kickstarter.
@Poz - you can play on the Rift right now - get in the mines.
@Soopy - we did that as a limited charity deal. Game is fine, new build today.
If anyone have gotten your HOTAS Warthog joystick and thruster to work? Mail me : email@example.com
Works fine in DK2, now I need good input
Yikes, Descent Underground is currently in a $1.89 bundle on indiegala. That doesn't bode well for the project...
Would be awesome to play this on the rift! How is that coming along?
I love the new build! Everything is looking great and feels smooth. Keep up the good work.
Nice..... still in early access and already discounted to $9.89. Oh well gotta learn these lessons the hard way I guess.
Hi, guys, I've been trying to get in touch with you via kickstarter for over a month. Sent a new message just now, so it ought to be near the top... ;)
