Commissioned Comic is a wildly insane webcomic about the life of Obsidian Abnormal, rife with zombies, ninjas, perverts, nerds, dwarves, elves (and weretigers), evil erasers, very manly bunnies and Cthulhu Ninja Zombie.
So in making a card game for this madness, we had to come up with something completely new and fun: 3v3
3v3 is a unique battling card game. Every hand you draw three cards. Each card has an attack, a defense and a special ability, but you have to pick which card is your attack, which is your defense and which is your ability. Then you play your three cards against your opponent's three cards.
You can score up to three points in a hand, and the first one to 10 points wins the round. But every time your opponent scores a point, you have to remove a card from your deck. This creates a fast-paced and fun gaming environment, with quick thinking needed to pick which cards to send to the scoreboard.
The strategy goes deeper in the building of your 30-card deck. With a 250-card starter set and two 50-card expansions, you'll be able to start with options immediately.
And a note for the Power Gamers out there: there are two types of card limits. If the card is a minion, you can have 30 of them in your deck. If the card is not a minion, there's a limit of three copies per deck. There are no duplicate non-minion cards in the starters or expansions.
This is the main meat of the Kickstarter. Clocking in at 250 cards, there's a lot of possible decks that can be made just with this set. You can have an army of ninjas, zombies, nerds or perverts. Obsidian is very much the centerpiece of this set, and you can almost field an entire deck of nothing but O cards.
Dwarf, Elf and Weretiger have made some enemies in their adventures. And on very rare occasions, they've made some allies. Fantastically Evil collects their enemies, from goblins and lizard men to gnomes and the Dark Overlord of Darkness.
The IMMORTAL, NINJA, GNOME, MINION, ZOMBIE, GRAND COUNCIL, PLOTMASTER and AIR DEFENSE levels all have "Line for Life" status built into them. What does this mean?
It means that whenever we come out with a new 3v3 product, so long as it's not a reprint, we'll automatically send a copy out to you for the rest of your life. 3v3 is something that we have very, very long-term plans with. Eventually, we hope to lose money on these backer levels. And honestly, I don't care about that, because you guys were the first to support this dream. And that's what matters.
Want to be a ninja? Actually, fair warning: O's ninjas are all anonymous. You'll get to match your skin tone to the eye-hole, pick from a selection of colored pajamas, and pick what weapon your ninja will wield.
The ninjas can be red, purple, blue, yellow, green, black, white, grey, brown, polkadot red, stripey purple, flower print, leather, latex, armored, nude or in a mesh suit.
Weapons will also be handed out first-come, first-served, including the sai, katana, boa, nunchaku, whip, shuriken, ninjatō, chain whip, war fan, smoke bomb, short staff, poison thread, poison dart, poison kiss, Poison album (not really, I was just making sure you were paying attention), three-section staff, claws, tonfa, daggers, caltrops, scythe, ice cream scoop, hook sword or kama.
And because you'll need to prove your ninja status, we'll throw in a signed print and certificate of authentication.
Perhaps you'd actually like to almost look like your card cameo? Then you can be a minion, gnome or zombie!
And yeah, you can still snag a signed print and certificate of authentication.
O has graciously agreed to tell you how it ends, at least once. Over the years, a number of plot threads have gotten lost in shuffles and redesigns. If you'd like to force him to give you closure, this is the backer level for you (NOTE: China Doll-related plots will not be addressed).
Yes, we said ZEPPELIN.
Come fly with us. Don't worry, neither O nor Dern is the pilot. But we'll both be there, and in our fancy dress. If you pick this package, we'll meet you either the Tuesday before or Monday after San Diego Comic-Con, have a pleasant meal, play some 3v3, and then take a 1-hour Zeppelin ride around the San Diego area. Why? Because that's how we do things.
One mat will automatically be added to every backer's package when we reach $20,000.
The Cyberpunks! 50 cards from the future. After we reach $25,000, you can add this deck to any package for $10 (note: if your package is already a Line for Life or Fill the Box package, it'll automatically be added to your shipment for free).
A 9-inch plush ninja, which can be added to any package for $15.
Meanwhile, we'll also be joining up with http://kickingitforward.org
Each player builds a 30-card deck for fun play. In tournament play, you can build a 30-card deck with a 10-card sideboard.
There are 250 cards in the starter set.
If you want to min-max out the rules, there's two limits to know - you can only have three copies of a unique card in your deck, or 30 copies of a minion card. The starter has two key minion blocks - 25 Zombies, and 25 Ninjas. The Ninjas are all slightly different in abilities. The Zombies are identical. But the other 200 cards in the starter are non-duplicated cards.
