Update: Jan 19, 2014!
Well, we realize now the 7 minute video wasn't the best. We thought we try something different and show what Evnt can do. The team at Evnt put 1000+ hours into this platform –– to bring it to life. In 11 days it is going to die. We are sorry we cannot give you cool tee shirts, shoelaces, hardware which control lights, or wifi cameras, or much of anything you can hold in your hands. What we can give you is a chance to change your life, or better yet, the lives of others.
Moments are the only connection and tie we have to the past . We turn to these moments when times become challenging, and when life gets tough. We all need a moment to take us back and remind us what we are all here for! Evnt can help others! It can help you! We aren't asking for much- just a moment.
Derek M. Sheldon, CEO
Evnt is a smartphone app and website which gives you the ability to create private or public photo and video galleries called Evnt Streams for events of any nature (e.g. sports games, concerts, weddings, or even breaking news) where you and other unconnected people can contribute media to capture the moment.
1. Create a private or public Evnt with a few easy steps from your smartphone, tablet or desktop computer.
2. Invite friends, family, or unconnected people to the Evnt.
3. Start snapping photos and capturing video.
All of the photos and videos captured by those contributing will be fed into the Evnt Stream where anyone can watch the action unfold in real-time or after the event is over. All of your media can be uploaded to existing social networks of your choice such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Lastly, Evnt will keep you notified of events others in your clique are attending. We don’t want you to miss out on those fun future moments waiting for you.
We are creating Evnt because we believe moments which change lives, or are special to you, should have a place on the internet to be viewed free from clutter, easily accessible, and preserved to look back on.
Evnt is so much more than just another photo- or video-sharing service.
It’s the first social collaboration platform in which users are encouraged to come together, rather than take part in the social media free-for-all, which results in pictures and videos becoming scattered across multiple social networks.
As it exists today, social media does not offer global transparency with pictures and videos from general events which should be shared throughout the world.
Furthermore, it is tedious and cumbersome to upload the same media to the various other social networks you use such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Although all of these networks have their time and place, they just aren’t fit for handling media from events.
Wouldn’t it be better if you could automagically upload media to all these platforms instantly, seamlessly, and easily while contributing media to a globalized or privatized feed, where everything is nicely organized and preserved to look back on?
We certainly think so, and this is why Evnt blossomed to fruition.
We believe the ability to crowdsource media from various unconnected people will help capture the entire moment, allowing anyone to view pictures and video instantly, live, and from multiple perspectives –– not just the people you are connected to.
This is the key to Evnt. This is what makes Evnt different from other social media platforms. Instead of restricting users, it brings them together collectively for the common good.
Let’s face it: there is a large demographic of people who cannot attend events for whatever reason, such as those with disabilities and those who are less fortunate financially. People should have the ability to view these events as technology today makes this possible. Evnt will allow us to share and view life’s moments as they unfold, either privately or publicly. This makes Evnt diverse.
Users can create private events for select viewer transparency or global events which can be shared and collaborated together with people around the world. The choice is always yours.
Evnt is one of the only social platforms which offers incentives to those who contribute media on select highly publicized events such as a large concert. This will ensure that media contribution to Evnt is fueled by a large user base. Incentives include new iPhones, Super Bowl tickets, and big name concert tickets… We aren't talking paperclips here!
Evnt can be used for events of any nature and the definition of an event is left up to you to decide.
Examples of Large-Scale Evnts may include weddings, conferences, sporting events, festivals, and graduations.
Examples of Group Evnts may include family gatherings, a night out on the town, camping trips, and birthday parties.
Examples of Personal Evnts may include documenting the growth of your child, keeping track of your progress in the gym, and keeping track of pictures on vacations.
Examples for Business Evnts may include corporate parties, product launches, trade fairs, and keeping clients updated with progress on projects.
Evnt is also a great tool to contribute or observe breaking news events as they unfold. You’re held back only by your imagination –– you can create an event for just about anything!
There are a few other applications available for collaborating photos and videos; however, all of them are about the person, not the moment.
Evnt is different because we remove restrictions. With global transparency we foster an environment where, for the first time, users are encouraged to unite and feed the moment.
We are also one of the only platforms to offer incentives for contributing media at events. Although we don’t want to become a prize-driven platform, we believe when you attend commercial events such as concerts or a sporting event, you should be rewarded for sharing photos and videos, because, in the end, this simple action is benefiting our platform and the organization hosting the event.
Yes! Once Evnt is created, maintaining Evnt will be costly. We will have payroll expenses, server infrastructure to maintain, and legal expenses.
The money we raise from KickStarter will sustain us for a while, but in order to support the platform and keep Evnt's user base and features growing, we will need to generate revenue.
This will be accomplished in two ways: contextual ads and business services.
For the most part Evnt will be be ad-free. You will be able to invite up to 10 people to an Evnt (be that personal or business related) and enjoy an ad-free experience in all areas of the application.
When more than 10 users contribute media to an event, a single non-obtrusive ad will be displayed at the bottom of the Evnt Stream as shown in the image below;
Ads will not be the main source of Evnt’s monetization. We will instead be focusing on user-experience and working with businesses, along with everyday people like yourself planning large-scale personal events such as weddings.
Evnt provides services such as:
The money raised on Kickstarter will go 100% towards finalizing Evnt. This includes finishing development of the platform, UI design for the iOS app, web portal, configuring the infrastructure to support our user base, and some minor legal expenses which naturally go along with forming a company and trademarking.
$30,000 may seem like a lot to develop an application; however, when you develop a platform such as Evnt, there is a lot entailed. We are also factoring in a high-end responsive web portal, 5% for payment processing from Amazon, Kickstarter’s 5% fee, 8K to develop the video above, and the thousands we will need to disperse to fulfill our backing options.
Luckily CEO Derek Michael Sheldon runs a successful app development firm; therefore, we have a multiple connections to execute our ideas for less money then usually required. This is the reason we require only 30k to develop an iOS app and web platform.
Any additional money raised will be used to add resources to: accelerate the delivery timeline, broaden the feature set, and bolster adoption, each of which is essential to achieve the broader goal of turning our vision into a reality. If we can reach our stretch goal of $60,000, we will also develop a native app for Android.
It all comes down to building a community. Let's not kid ourselves: a few guys in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania developing a social collaboration platform aren't going to reach a meaningful number of users out of thin air. But if there were five thousand influencers like you contributing $10 each, that is the beginning of a solid community.
We have already made a great deal of progress on the development of Evnt. The user interface is nearly complete, our programmer has started writing the first lines of code, and a scalable server infrastructure is being planned out.
We aim to have the iOS application launched to the public sometime in March 2014. Backers will have access to early builds of Evnt starting in February. As for the Android app, if we reach our stretch goal, it will be developed in tandem with our iOS application and web client.
We think Evnt is going to look pretty darn spiffy.

For Jaden and me, nothing we have done before has been as important as Evnt. This is why we are showcasing our achievements: to instill confidence in our ability to deliver what we promise. Thank you for the time you have taken out of your busy lives to view a project we are both passionate about. We hope you consider giving Evnt the life it needs by your support here on Kickstarter. At Your Service,
Risks and challenges
Here at Evnt we have a great team of seasoned designers, developers, and business personnel working round-the-clock to make Evnt a reality. Still, we’re not done yet.
With any software development project like this, the biggest risk and challenge is inevitably delivering to the masses in a timely fashion. To combat delays, we'll be setting regular goals and working hard we achieve them. We will inform our backers about our progress on a weekly basis. If you have any questions or concerns, you can always email Derek or Jaden directly. Our emails aren't hidden like other social books ––ahem–– platforms, we won't mention.
Obtaining a large user base will also be a great challenge. One of the ways to ensure that this will not become a stumbling block is to utilize our backers from KickerStarter to jumpstart the community. We will then be fostering growth through strategic grassroots marketing, one large city at a time. We also intend to invest in an aggressive national marking campaign. As an added bonus we have an international recording artist, Jann Arden, as a partner of Evnt.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
