Industrial/electronic band with an experimental/acoustic side returns with an album as much for the eyes and hands as for the ears.

ALBUMDream into Dust So Beautiful and so Dangerous takes you on an intense journey of musical and emotional extremes. This 14-track, 55-minute CD is the culmination of 6 years of work that crosses industrial, electronic, acoustic, darkwave, experimental, shoegaze, and metal genres. I wanted to completely immerse the listener in the musical themes, lyrical plays on words, and photography used in the complete packaging experience, (seen and heard in the trailer video below).
In an age when we're accustomed to downloading one track at a time, I wanted this album to be a seamless experience worthy of breaking that habit; holding something real in your hands as you listen to a progression of sound and take in the lyrics and visuals. The vivid imagery on the foldout cover and 8-page booklet of lyrics and credits consist of my own photography expressing aspects of beauty in decay, paralleling our music.
MUSICIANSThis album is my vision, but I worked with some great musicians and engineers to help make it from my head to your ears.
Bryin Dall is best known as musical counterpart to the voice of Industrial music pioneer Genesis P-Orridge in Thee Majesty. Dall's distinctive noise guitar (sometimes played with a machete!), effect processing, experimentalism, and objective ears have been invaluable to this album.
Mario Padrón is an amazing bassist who played a variety of 5- and 6-string basses, and wrote the main riff of a key song, "Deaden The Pain".
Scott Reiter's strength is improvising on synthesizers, bringing an organic feel to electronics, as well as contributing the basic intro music for the title track (heard in the beginning of the trailer video above).
Derek Rush (me): This is the first Dream Into Dust album since The Lathe of Heaven (2003). In between, I've contributed to the soundtrack of the new film The Ballad Of Genesis And Lady Jaye, produced, arranged, and played on Bryin's album of Hank Williams covers Deconstructing Hank, worked as half of Dark Ambient project A Murder Of Angels, and collaborated with Industrial artist Theologian. I live for music, and I'm proud to be able to finally release this body of work.
The album is professionally mastered by one of the best, Adrian Morgan at Timeless Mastering. Huge thanks to him for making every nuance stand out.
KICKSTARTERThe $1700 goal is to make 500 copies of the CD and digipak/booklet, plus shipping materials and postage for sending copies to everyone
(BACKERS FROM OUTSIDE THE U.S. OR CANADA: whichever package you choose, please consider adding an extra $5 to help cover postage to your country). Pick from any of the rewards in the right hand column, or just donate any amount if you're feeling generous. You're only charged if the project makes its goal, and paying through Amazon guarantees your payment's security.
REWARDSOnly Kickstarter backers will get a custom card inside with a download link to an additional song called "Ghost Orchid" originally recorded for the album. It was left off to keep a better flow, but still a good track worth being heard. As additional thanks, your name will be in the booklet (or a specially designed insert, if there are too many names to fit in the booklet).
All backer copies will be sent out before being sold to the general public or sent to magazines. It should take about 4-6 weeks after the campaign closes to get the copies made and then shipped. I'll keep all backers updated on that process too.
Some rewards packages offer my original photographs (some seen in the video above) as high-resolution, framed and signed prints (see http://derekrush.shutterchance.com/archive for more). Once the project is fully funded, you'll have the opportunity to ask for your choice by title.
Additional rewards options add previous Dream Into Dust releases.

Dream Into Dust
Kickstarter pledges are handled through Amazon Payments, who keep track of the charges. The money is only released to me if the project is fully funded by the deadline, and I've signed a contract with them and Kickstarter guaranteeing I must fulfill the promised rewards.
I've put out several limited edition collectible releases over the years. I thought this was an opportunity to let both old and fans pick and choose what they wanted, and also avoid making people take something they already have.
The most important tier is the BASIC PACKAGE (second one down on the right). 15 tracks in a lovely package with art and lyrics and your name on it for 15 bucks including shipping to your door. If you don't care about t-shirts, vinyl, or framed photography, that's the one to go for.
