"As an artist I cannot stand by and watch the erosion of human rights grow around the world" - DAMIÁN SIQUEIROS, the artist behind To Russia With Love project.
Recognizing the fact that art heals and breaks cultural and language boundaries, we have embarked on a series of photographs entitled "TO RUSSIA WITH LOVE" devoted to raise awareness about Russia's infringement on our LGBTQ brothers and sisters.
Your contribution to this campaign will enable us to host a series of exhibitions in New York, Los Angeles, Montreal, and other cities throughout North America and Europe.
Throughout history some of the greatest Russian artists and influential figures have been homosexual. We set up on a journey to show some of them, their love and their vision for a better world.
This project is as much about the past as it is about the future. Many queer artists are being silenced in modern Russia and with your help WE CAN CHANGE THAT!
The purpose of the campaign is to help cover the costs of the prints, transportation, gallery fees and other exhibition related expenses. During each exhibition stop (Montreal, New York, Los Angeles) will feature a live-video-link with queer artists residing living in Russia, thus creating a dialogue with the creative forces of this country and their experiences.
To Russia with Love Project will serve the purpose of provoking conversations around the topic with a compassionate and positive perspective. "Beauty will save the world" and YOU can be a part of it.
The project is led by visual artist and photographer Damian Siqueiros, who has collaborated with prestigious magazines and clients such as: Vogue Mexico, Elle and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens. He's a seeker of true beauty and an avid believer and defender of gender equality and the rights for gender diversity.
Please share this campaign with your friends on Facebook and Twitter.
We have carefully planned our forthcoming exhibition venues and partners in New York, Los Angeles and Montreal, as well as production sources for prints, book and posters.
DEPESHA's 10-years experience in publishing magazines and promoting artists would help this project eliminate possibilities of setbacks. However, should they occur, we have identified alternative production sources as well as alternative location venues for the exhibition.
Everyone on this team is a hard working individual seeking to make this project a total success. We are committed to resolve any challenges efficiently and effectively, and with full professionalism folks have come to expect from us.
