Until now, you'd have to shell out hundreds and hundreds to get super soft, sustainable bedding you can't wait to curl up in.
But we do things differently. Rather than working with outsourced manufacturers and slapping our label on, we've gone straight to the source – buying organic cotton directly from farmers and producing bedding bundles ourselves.
The result: cutting out ALL of the markups, and selling the softest organic, fair trade cotton at half the price of everyone else. Make the upgrade to get the best, coziest sleep of your life!
Sometimes choices really are that simple. We pass on huge savings by buying organic cotton directly from farmers and producing pieces ourselves while our competitors buy from outsourced manufacturers with big markups.
Because ignorance actually isn't bliss
Typical Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) businesses only attack one half of the problem — wholesale & retail markups. At Looma we're reorienting the entire supply chain by cutting out middlemen even earlier in the supply chain.
We control every step of the supply chain, so we can produce higher quality products and charge lower prices!
Cotton softness is determined by its staple – the length of the individual wispy fibers. Our organic Himalayan cotton is known for its long staples and silky softness. And even better news: our high-quality fibers get softer with every wash!
A fabric’s ply is made up of a number of finer yarns spun into a final yarn thread. Two-ply yarn is made of two individual yarns, three-ply with three yarns, etc.
The multi-ply yarn process is typically used with lower-quality, shorter-staple cotton to reach the same strength of a single-ply, long-staple yarn. The result is a rougher feel from more fiber ends rubbing the skin and a heavier overall weight, as more short-staple fiber is needed to mimic the strength of long-staple fiber.
We only use single-ply yarns.
Looma bedding products are all produced with a sateen weave. Sateen exposes more of the silky thread surface, resulting in a significantly softer and “buttery smooth” feeling vs. percale, which is often described as crisp.
Thread count is defined by the number of threads in one square inch of fabric.
Our bedding is a true 300-thread count.
Thread count, more often than not, is used to deceive customers. Vendors that advertise high thread counts are often double counting for multi-ply yarns – so the 1000-thread count sheets you’re seeing may be made of 200-thread count 5-ply yarn, resulting in a rough and needlessly heavy sheet.
Our fitted sheets are designed with a universal fit in mind. Some mattresses come with built-in extra padding in the form of a pillow top, euro top, or tight top. This is great for comfort, but it means that regular sheets often don’t quite do the job of properly covering the mattress. You might also encounter this problem if you’ve added a separate mattress topper to your bed.
Our deep pocket sheets are 17” deep, allowing them to stretch over thick mattresses, mattresses with pillow tops, or mattresses with mattress toppers.
Our fitted sheet features super-strong elastic around the bottom to fit snugly around your mattress and prevent loose, wrinkly areas in the middle of the bed.
Our sizing is universal. Our fitted sheet with super-strong elastic is extra deep and can conform to any mattress size. If you have any questions about sizing (especially internationally) post a question, or shoot us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org!
Our organic cotton is grown by a collective of hundreds of independent farms in the Himalayan basin. These farms adhere to strict environmental standards that ensure cotton crops are grown without the use of harmful pesticides or fertilizers, preventing health problems for our farmers, their communities, and you!
Our commitment to organic & fair trade practices means workers earn a living wage to support their families and take part in initiatives like free health care and educational sponsorship for their children.
Education & Sponsorship
Beyond our impact on direct stakeholders like workers and customers, we’ve partnered with Hanuman Girls’ School in Rajasthan, India to sponsor one month’s tuition and meals for every bedding set sold. We couldn't be happier to be a part of a new emphasis on educating girls!
The Looma team are serial movers – averaging one move every 18 months since 2010. Each move and resettling felt like rebuilding a life from scratch. Most bedroom items didn’t make the cut of “Is this really worth moving?” so redecorating an apartment to feel like home has become a pastime of ours. Despite our collective experience, the attempts at redecorating haven’t gotten easier. We each have a vague overall style we’d like to adhere to, but settling for basics and ordering piece by piece had its price: a room that doesn’t look or feel quite right.
We teamed up with a group of interior designers around the world to build a new type of home goods company with an intuitive buying experience that would give us bedrooms we could be proud of and unbeatably soft sheets that didn’t rip, pill, fall apart, or feel like sandpaper (we’re looking at you, Amazon Basics). Our products are organized by overall aesthetic – when you choose one of the aesthetic verticals, we match you with a foundation set and accent bundle that tie perfectly together and to the overall theme. We think of it as Stitch Fix for the home.
We also had a huge advantage in starting the business. Being in the textiles business, co-founder Ishaan knew if we sourced the highest quality organic cotton directly from farms, and produced products ourselves rather than through outsourced manufacturers, we could sell products at HALF the price of online competitors. It’s been a monumental task, but the result is a super high-end quality product for an unbeatable price. Our organic & fair trade Foundation Bundle (Sheet Set + Duvet Cover and Pillow Shams) is just $279. The world’s softest organic, fair trade cotton, for just $279. That’s a deal you shouldn’t pass on.

Risks and challenges
Looma has a few hurdles to overcome as we launch the business:
1) Raising enough money on our Kickstarter to buy the organic, fair trade cotton at a large volume discount. We’re selling our Foundation Bundle (Duvet+Sheet Set) at just $279 vs. competitors at $500-$600!! Buying in bulk from farmers is what lets us pass that huge savings on to you 😊.
Greater demand than we anticipate may create slight delays in producing our handcrafted Accent Bundles (Lumbar Pillow + Throw). Each piece is the result of diligent work by one of our highly skilled weavers using an intricate process that takes time. A successful campaign means we may need to find more artisans to meet the demand.
Our sheets are so soft you may not be able to get out of bed (actually, this is more of a risk to you..)
Lucky for you, we have complete confidence we can overcome each of these challenges! At the end of the day you’re getting the highest quality sheets on the internet at an incredible price.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
