A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
DemoFist Fun, Safe, Beautiful
One of the best parts of being a handyman and rebuilding something is all the fun you get to have by demolishing the old one to bits.
In fact, sometimes it’s very fun and therapeutic just to wreck something. That’s called loving what you do. I’m not saying that’s why I got in this business but it sure makes the day go by faster. If you like hammers or demolition as much as we do, then you just might love this neat little product we came up with. We call it the DemoFist, and well, it’s a hammer that’s shaped like a fist. I don’t think you need any more of an explanation than that. It’s made from high strength engineered cast iron, and weighs about six pounds Because of its shape it is very easy to handle, but still a solid weight in your hands. Now, here’s some video of me breaking down an old kitchen cabinet.
WHO WE ARE
DemoFist is the destructive creation of myself, Hamid, and my co-creator and fellow engineer, Nima. We are both from Toronto and we designed and developed this little tool ourselves in our workshop as a side project, and well, it was just so cool that we decided to share it you. Demolition is fun. Let’s make it more fun.
WHAT WE NEED
Nima and I are looking to raise CA$30,000 worth of funding to do our very first production run of the DemoFist. We have teamed up with some pretty cold cast iron manufacturers to bring DemoFist to life. Our workshop is small, and well, making these things on a large scale isn’t easy. Funds would go towards industrial level manufacturing of these units, so other people like yourself could have one of their very own DemoFists.
WHAT YOU GET
Pre-order now, and you will receive one DemoFist in a beautiful Vintage wooden box. You can use the box to store or display your DemoFist. Or use it to store other precious items. Or you can order the DemoFist without the box and save a few bucks.
OTHER WAYS YOU CAN HELP
Even if you can’t donate at this time, we would really appreciate it if you shared this campaign with friends and family who might like a DemoFist of their own, whether they are contractors, do-it-yourself-ers, or just handy with a hammer.
Risks and challenges
Manufacturing Method/Supplier --> We have personally worked with the supplier on other items
Shipping --> Shipping costs are based on actual quotes
Product Performance --> Prototypes are fully functional and made from same material and were made by our intended supplier.
