About this project
Word of mouth is powerful, and I'd be so grateful if you share this link with others. Post on Facebook, email it to friends, mention it to everyone you know. Thank you so much!
As a Nashville filmmaker and a skater with the Nashville Rollergirls Brawl Stars, I felt the need to share this story with others. This is a story about a roller derby league that has taken its share of licks, and yet has turned each one into fuel for the fire. The film explores the ways in which the characteristics possessed by members of the Nashville Rollergirls are similar to those possessed by Nashvillians in general. It takes a certain something to succeed in the face of adversity, and the group of people behind the Nashville Rollergirls has it in spades.
With fast-paced derby action and a deeply human story, the film will draw you in and keep you engaged. This inspirational story follows the Nashville Rollergirls through the loss of their practice space, the move to a new bout venue, injuries, relocation of key players, huge financial pressures, and even an epic flood. Ever the underdog, and with a burning in their bellies, the Nashville Rollergirls seek to prove themselves at every turn. And nothing will prevent them from achieving the goals they set. This is the story of a group of people who, in true Nashville spirit, refuse to accept "no", "can't", or "won't". And in true derby spirit, they bring "do-it-yourself" to the next level.
We the filmmakers are raising funds to cover travel costs as we follow the Nashville Rollergirls charter team to Regional Playoffs, and (based on their performance at regionals) the WFTDA Championships. This is the culmination of the film, and the story can't be completed without it. Funds are also needed to cover basic supplies like hard drives, promotional materials, and DVD reproduction. We have a completion deadline of Mid-November, at which time we will begin what we hope will be a successful film festival run. We can't wait to share this film with you!
