We are proposing to make a beautiful 45 minute audio-slideshow/ radio documentary illuminating photographer Dragana Jurisic's ongoing exhibition "YU: The Lost Country", which premiered at Belfast Exposed in October 2013, and ran at Dublin's RHA Gallery in Autumn 2014. The exhibition is based on little-celebrated Anglo-Irish writer Rebecca West's 1930s travelogue to former Yugoslavia "Black Lamb and Grey Falcon", reflected through Dragana's rolliflex camera as she walks in West's footsteps - through her own former homeland from which she was displaced during the war. The result is a unique and original road-trip where two women from different eras [Jurisic and Anglo-Irish writer Rebecca West], intersect in an intellectual, emotional, and physical journey through that notoriously volatile region – the Balkans.
Alongside over 100 photographs from the series, many of which have not been seen before in the exhibition, we will feature a myriad of voices, from Dragana's to other former Yugoslavians of note who have settled in Ireland, to literary experts, visual arts critics, and friends of Dragana's who set her off on her journey. Sound engineer John Davis will help us to achieve rich audio texture, peppered with archive of Rebecca West herself and recreations of West reading from her epic depiction of a volatile but alluring world that always teetered on the brink of falling apart.
The audio slideshow will live online at www.VULGO.ie, available for art galleries to embed as a sort of virtual gallery, enhancing the exhibition as it tours and passes through. The radio documentary will be available for broadcast on major radio stations in Ireland and worldwide - accompanying and enhancing the thought-provoking exhibition as it continues its tour around the globe.

Risks and challenges
We are hoping to get this project done on time so it coincides with the launch of Dragana's book on YU: The Lost Country in February 2015. We hope the availability of our sound engineer will allow us to achieve this. Otherwise it will be as close to the booklaunch as we can possibly achieve.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
