Diception: Carnival Games is a collection of minimalist mini games for use in tabletop role-playing games that are easy to learn and fun to play using only the dice you already have!!
This version of Diception is just like the orignial, but inspired by festivals and carnivals. It's about having fun while someone digs through the rule book, rolling dice with or against others at the table and adding another level of immersion to your game world! When your hero is enjoying a giant turkey leg, a mug of ale, and a giant festival, but it just is not enough. Now you as a player or DM can bust out some dice and play games inspired by some of the most common games one would find at a carnival.
Why are we making this?
We noticed a large lack of awesome games in a collection, and that really bugged us. That being said you can only play one game so much before you just get tired of it. This collection of games bring 30+ games to your tabletop that are inspired by carnivals and festivals. They are all simple, easy to understand, and displayed in a wonderful fashion.
That is cool, but I do not play tabletop games?
Awesome, the best part about this supplement is all the games do not have a rule set that is all ready out there. Seriously, all you need is dice and the PDF (or physical copy) to get down on some fresh new games. These games are more then just tabletop. They are there own game in a wonderful fashion. So do not be worried about if you play tabletop games or not. If you love games, then get in here!
How is this differnet than the original?
This version is different because while there is focus on the games. There is also a huge focus on the booth vendors or game runners as well. We have all been to a carnival were we meet the crazy individuals behind the festivites. A few are normal people just like me and you, a few are a little wacky and weird, and a few are so crazy and goofy we cannot help but remember them. The hope here is to add content to your game as well as to give your content that you can use quicly and easily!

R . Lee Brown has been writing since about age 2 when I dictated stories to my mother and drew the art for them. About mid-way through college I realized my artwork hadn’t improved much; I decided to stick to the content portion of the program and let visual professionals work their magic. Chad Ehrhardt a.k.a. DM Ziunn is a life long nerd but did not get involved in tabletop gaming until recently. He got his DM wings after his original group fell apart and was salvaged by his sacrifice of willingness to DM. Now, after over three years of playing his wife and her friends and even formed a group called "All Natural Twenties" that do streaming and are very popular on instragram and twitch.
And then there is the two of us..........
Levi & Hobie are tabletop gaming guys. We have been working together for over a year now, and thanks to Kickstarter and all you wonderful backers, we have been able to make some amazing content. Hobie and Levi are both fathers, husbands, employees, and tons of other things. After this Kickstarter, we also plan to become full-time content creators for other gaming projects we hope you'll love. We are forever grateful for your support and cannot wait to see the tabletop games, accessories, and content we will create!
So just like in the original diception we will unlock a new piece of art for every 25 backs to the kickstarter. Teresa will begin with the art for the games and once we have all the enough backers to unlock all the game art. We will begin to unlock NPC artwork for the vendor of the booth and game. Additionally, you will see that there are seperate goals for backers and currency. This is to give more back to you backers, and to make the overall book amazing. So stay tuned and follow along!
What is an At-Cost On-Demand Coupon?
The goal is to make this as streamlined as possible for us, so we're putting fulfillment duties into the capable hands of DriveThruRPG.
Soon after Kickstarter delivers the funds, backers will receive an at-cost code to print their books on DriveThruRPG.
They can order the codes they pledge for and get them shipped directly to them. Please keep in mind: backers will still need to pay for shipping costs and the at-cost price of the book.
We've hosted our products on DriveThruRPG for over a year now, and have only ever received excellent service and support. We're confident they can help us deliver an amazing book to all our backers on time.
Why only 2 week? A Quickstarter on Kickstarter!
This is something we wanted to do and get in front of backers and it isn't going to be extremely complicated or require all the work that goes into storing/packing/shipping that truly does takes away from our every day lives. With this, we get to make it fast and have fun doing it while still being able to deliver to backers in a timely manner!
Kickstarter is invaluable for a small company trying to get some reach and marketing, so here we are!
Why are we Quick-starting this?
The games are tested, the optional art and final layout is all that's left! The game will be finished very quickly (we're aiming for by the time Kickstarter gives us the money), and the PDF will be uploaded to DriveThruRPG, and proof copies ordered!
This is a fast campaign to help recoup some of the expenses incurred in making the game. As soon as it's done and the funds are delivered to Deep Dungeon Games you'll get your PDF and your codes for print-on-demand.
Will that push back our delivery date?
Nope! We've got artists in the background ready to go and willing to make art as we break stretch goals, we just have to make sure they get paid once we're done with the project! If we do add any additional art it will be drawn up alongside the Kickstarter and the two weeks after it closes before the money is delivered to our account :)
Risks and challenges
Since we are just operating on the PDF, the risks are low. Drive-thru will handle all printing and shipping of the actual book! So we do not foresee any challenges or risks throughout the project.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
