About this project
At Lottie’s Creamery we are obsessed with three things: flavor, quality and atmosphere. Our dream is to make artisan ice cream in small batches with attention to every detail, served up in a vibrant, kid-friendly scoop shop. Cook and co-founder Deb Phillips trained at Berkeley's destination ice cream shop, Ici, where she built on skills learned in culinary school as well as through her rich family history in the kitchen.
What makes Lottie's Creamery unique?
Not only will everything be made in-house—we have a full commercial kitchen where Deb will make all the ice cream ingredients such as candies, sauces, and cookies from scratch—but we've actually purchased our own pasteurizer to make our own ice cream base, something unique among Bay Area ice creameries. This allows us incredible control over texture and balance of each flavor.
Just some of our unique flavors include:
- Chipotle Cinnamon
- Cream Cheese Carrot Cake
- S'mores (chocolate + graham cracker crumbles, toasted marshmallows)
- Irish Coffee Crunch (crunchy espresso toffee bits and a hint of Irish whiskey)
- Pucker Up (tangy lemons, tart limes and sweet cream)
Why does Lottie's Creamery need your help now?
We've spent months crafting a business plan, scouting retail space, working with architects and builders to renovate a former Thai restaurant and, perhaps most importantly, working in our test kitchen perfecting the flavors our friends and family have tasted and loved, so that Lottie’s will be a destination for families and gourmands alike.
This has been a labor of love, and a very expensive one. To reach our deadline of opening in early fall 2012, we need your help! Your funds will help complete the final stretch of the construction process, plus the purchasing of necessary equipment for our retail operations, interior furniture, and fixtures to get the renovated Lottie's space looking as cute as a button!

YES! One SUPER IMPORTANT thing you should know about Kickstarter is that if we don't reach our goal, we receive nothing, nada, zilch. So, if you believe in Lottie's, in Deb, in delicious, artisan, made-from-scratch ice cream, or just in helping a deserving food entrepreneur launch her business, please donate. This is ice cream made by people with a penchant for fun and a passion for perfection.
