I'll stand in for Batman until you are feeling well again. I love the courage you have shown so far. Do what you need to get well and don't be afraid to ask for help from the right people.

Dean, thank you so much for sharing your struggle with us. It takes so much strength to do what you've done and to help so many. Be gentle with yourself and ask for help whenever you need it.

Good luck with what you're going through, you're doing awesome work and you deserve to take care of yourself and more.

After your panel at ECCC this year I was with the group waiting to speak to you outside the room. You were so very kind, patient and welcoming- people were pouring their stories to you. I wanted to simply say thank you, but the emotional roller coaster I was on just fringe hearing what you were being told was too much for me and I had to leave.

You are wonderful and human- take care of yourself. Always make sure your airmask is on first :)

      Thank you.

Thanks Dean. That's all I needed to hear. Be well.

You should do what Pre-New 52 Batman does, lean on people.

You don't have to shoulder this whole burden on your own. You have people who care about you who will get you through this.

      All the best!

My girlfriend, a therapist, did her masters thesis on vicarious trauma. One of the books she highly recommended was called Trauma Stewardship. If you haven't checked it out, it's worth it. I am a therapist too and hear many harrowing stories from my clients. Doing self-care work is essential and so is boundary setting. I'm glad you're taking care of yourself.

@Dean - Thanks for the update. I have similar feelings about the problem of depression due to my own experiences. It's very tough not to internalize others' pain. I'm still very much looking forward to reading this book. Keep your head up and remember that you are not alone. You are very likely part of the solution just by listening to other peoples' experience. Take care.

That's all I needed to hear. Even a shorter quicker note would have worked. Just a ping to know you're still thinking of us is great to hear.
Hope you feel better, and looking forward to the book.

Take care of yourself, I'm sure we all understand, you've been so free and open it's just making it easier for people to talk but I don't think anyone begrudges you mental health. Looking forward to the book, but no pressure at all on timelines or updates.
