Santa's Sleigh Ride is a 15-30 minute racing game for 2-6 players, ages 5+. The object of the game is to race other "Santas" throughout the world, stopping at highly populated cities along the way to deliver gifts. The first player to arrive back at the North Pole wins the game. But, watch out! Your journey along the Candy Cane Path will be filled with a few twists and turns.
This fun, fast-paced and educational game will provide a great way for your family to come together at the holidays or any time of year.
My wife and I always look forward to spending quality time with our two young kids at the holidays. A seasonal tabletop game seemed like a perfect activity for the family - but we couldn't find one anywhere! So we created our own - Santa's Sleigh Ride.
Our goal was to create a simple and intuitive holiday game that all ages would enjoy. Through dozens of play tests we have developed a simple concept, easy to understand rules, and just enough variation that the gameplay is different every time!
We also wanted to build in technical accuracy (because we can't resist a good spreadsheet!). For example, we created a population index (~4,000,000:1) to determine the gifts needed per city (or combination of cities). We use a realistic map that features many well-known cities and popular landmarks. We even created a simple equation to determine the proper value and amount of 'gift cards' needed for 15-30 minutes of gameplay based on average turn length.
- 46 Gift Cards
- 17 Action Cards
- 6 Player Pawns
- 1 Game Board
- 1 Six-sided Die
- 1 Instruction Manual
I am a teacher. I have experience instructing kids of all ages, ranging from kindergarten to college. It was important to me to include educational elements in the game (that do not feel like homework!). Your child can practice early math skills in a fun, engaging way. And, the whole family can talk about the cities of the world, how many people live there, and popular landmarks.
All players start at the North Pole.
Draw one card at the start of each turn. You will either draw a Gift Card or an Action Card (see above card description):
- Hold Gift Cards until you can deliver them.
- Use Action Cards immediately.
At the North Pole: when you draw a "1" you deliver (discard) the "first gift of the holidays" and roll the die. Move forward that number of cities.
When you land on a city:
- If you are already holding the correct number of gifts for that city you may discard those gifts, roll the die, and move forward. You may continue to deliver gifts and roll until you are out of required Gift Cards.
- If you do not already have the correct number of gifts, stay at that city. Continue drawing one card on each turn until you can discard the required number of gifts for that city. Then roll the die and move forward.
You must deliver the exact amount of gifts needed for each city that you land on.
First player to return to the North Pole wins!

We have only 1 stretch goal. If we make it to $12,000 we will work with our fantastic design team to create custom player pieces instead of simple player pawns.
Risks and challenges
Any project reliant on manufacturing has risk, but our manufacturing and design team are reputable professionals with decades of experience in game production. Santa's Sleigh Ride will also be made right here in the USA to help minimize communication or shipping issues.
Shipping Santa's Sleigh Ride before the holidays is also an important priority for us (obviously). We have constructed a generous timeline that enables shipping product by December 1. An uninterrupted time line could enable shipping as early as October 1.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
