About this project
A game where multiplayer actions and decisions are set within a world parallel to our own. Help your nation's critical mass reach enlightenment, get it done with money or bully nations by force... the choice is yours.
Day or Doom addresses the recent absence of quality party games, that can be enjoyed with friends in the same room during an evening in. Combining adrenaline fuelled action found only in video games, with the best aspects of strategy board games, Day or Doom has something for everyone.
Squash a religious people that pose a risk with their overwhelming faith, control resources in vast areas to snatch power, corrupt the opposition with your wealth, or convince nations you come in peace, but ensure they leave in pieces!
It's a Turn-based Strategy and Real-Time Strategy rolled into one game. Each player performs a turn cycle:
Real-time action mini games are triggered in context to the main game board and at key points, such as when invading enemy sectors. Points are awarded for successful completion of mini-games or battles and are applied to 1 of 3 win meters. Victory is declared to the first nation that fills one of their Win Meters: War, Capitalism or Peace.
Most mini-games allow all four players to take part simultaneously, maintaining fast and engaging play. We plan to release over 6* mini-games at launch including:

Ages of History Decide on land ownership for all players in a simple but addictive tactical pre-game

Peace Envoy Send this powerful unit to resolve wars before they begin via diplomacy

Open Play Styles Dip in and out of different play styles to suit your circumstances

- Crysis Relief Aid Secure all peace certificates and show compassion to the opposition to earn this super power, and have them convert to your nation with minimal effort.
Along with the game we are developing the KRADL3, a 3 in 1 marvel of engineering: RFID Card Reader, eDice Inductive Battery Charger and Communication Hub between the computer and components. The KRADL3 brings true randomness and luck back into gaming and will be compatible with all forthcoming titles from Inkfish Studios and any third party developers via the open-source KRADL3 SDK.

eDice contain a straightforward electronic architecture which allows them to transmit their topmost values back to the KRADL3.
Powered by a single coin-cell and rechargable thousands of times before needing replacement, eDice are the culmination of ancient principle meeting contemporary science.
Though less featured than Dice+, eDice cost less than a third to produce, and are infinitely more robust. As forthcoming titles using the KRADL3 will likely use multiple eDice, cost is something we are very much focused on reducing and passing the savings on to you.

The TecDeck is made up of 70 high quality jumbo-sized RFID chipped playing cards. Made with durable plastic coated card stock, these cards are robust and easy to shuffle, retaining their shape as much as possible. An RFID inlay is sandwiched between two dual layer surfaces made of card and rubber coating.

Inkfish Studios, a new London-based games company with a team spanning over 20 years of industry experience, hopes to bring this exciting project to the wonderful gaming community. We are a group of down to earth, like-minded gamers and value community feedback and opinions. We work closely with our partners Mando Productions (shown below during a brainstorming session).
Mando Productions have an exceptional portfolio of titles including Hills of Glory, Caveman Wars and most well known, Babel Rising. They are currently working with talented artist Stephane Halleux, winner of the 2013 Oscar Award for Best Animated Short with their movie Mr Hublot, so you can be sure things will look the BOMB!
Like us, Mando are also huge gamers and exude the same passion for the project. They even started a similar project around 5 years ago, but due to resources were forced to stop.
This is me, Mario. I am what you might call a sick gamer. I honestly can't think of a better way to enjoy an evening than giving my mates an ass-whoopin at whichever game they put in front of me, I just love it! Some of you may know me from my online gamer-tag F0B!C... perhaps you've already felt my wrath on the battlefield? =]
I'm also a die-hard board-gamer and have wished to create my own game for ages. Day or Doom is the game that I've dreamed of playing ever since watching the in-movie advert for 'NUKEM' in Paul Verhoeven's 1987 RoboCop.
I've waited years for technology to catchup and for the games industry to release something similar… sadly after waiting what feels like an eternity, I finally gave up hope and decided to make it myself.
Spear-heading the operation is Randy Beverly a well known production manager and figure in the video-games industry with a reputation for punctuality and quality. When this guy tells you it will be done, IT WILL BE DONE. His methodical appraoch to projects has awarded him excellent success and world-wide recognition.
Also worth a mention is David Gatti, our Head of Hardware. David has only just left his previous role at Game Technologies (the company behind DICE+) to come work with us at Inkfish - and get his ass whipped at DoD when we finally release it! There is no one better to ensure smooth delivery and top quality hardware than this guy.

Day or Doom is the epitome of a Kickstarter project; innovative, independent and most importantly, impossible to create anywhere else.
If we try to get it published, the game will almost certainly lose its mature, appealing edge. Besides, games that require hardware are not exactly at the top of a publishers budget list.
We can't wait to show you all the cool game features and ideas we have buzzing around at the studio and to complete our first playable demo. Feedback is invaluable to us and its always great to hear comments, so please get in touch!

We won’t pretend to have all the answers, but together with you, we’re confident we can create something truly special. Your money will go specifically on game development, artists, sound and rigorous Q&A testing to ensure smooth compatibility for smartphones and tablets, allowing the project to continue in the same vein it has over the past year.
We are working on an original contemporary music score being crafted by electronic master producer - Herman Martinez, well known in the Techno and Psychadelic scenes for some chunky adrenaline-pumping beats and smooth subliminal sounds for you all to chew on.
Our rewards structure is modest and personal. Instead of providing hundreds of different options we've tried to keep things relatively straightforward and affordable for everyone.
All backers will be given a website credit so we can all look back and remember who made this project possible. We will also provide some lovely hi-resolution wallpapers to spice up your desktop and permit access to the work-in-progress game rules so everyone can track the games evolution, as well as the full game soundtrack being composed by Herman Martinez.

Made from a solid high quality die-cast alloy, the Day or Doom keyring is a nice accessory to show off to your friends.
The Forum is exclusive to backers only (excludes $10 backer), and will help us to create a highly polished title. The forum is the only place where we you can voice your opinions and will ensure that the most popular ideas make it into the finished game and the most unpopular don’t.

Charge Cradle & Stand
Both made from mixed plastic compounds and finished with sylish Day or Doom artwork, they create a safe, elevated charging area for your smartphone and will hold your command pad in one of two upright positions respectively. These are very limited and as such are only offered in some packages.
Poster or Figurine
A giant poster that will also function as an in-game legend or a figurine of important Day or Doom units- we will ask forum backers to confirm their preference, the one with the most votes will be made.
Directly after our staff's end-game credits, we will show names of all backers along with their submitted avatars next to them, after all you are now part of the team.... no moonies please!
We hope to make a hardcopy version of the strategy guide, however it does depend on funding. Printing and delivery can be expensive, and we would rather you have a guide in a digital format, than no guide at all. If we must go the digital route, you can rest assured that we will also upload a print-friendly version with bleed and crop marks for those of you who want a hardcopy.
It is being written by Mario Kolovos the game designer, and will feature absolutely every aspect of the game, breakdowns of each win path and tech trees of each nation.

Behind the Scenes Access
A special section on the DayorDoom.com website that will include uploaded video content documenting the highs and lows of making the game. This is a great way to understand exactly what goes into making a video game and meet the colourful crew (with an equally colourful vocabulary) that work tirelessly day in - day out, to bring you a quality product.
These are displayed on unit textures in-game, on multiplayer league tables and some physical rewards. They are only available to backers and will help you stand out from the crowds on the games final release. The multiplayer matchmaking facilities will also help you find other backers of the same insignia tier and below. Some special gaming events with prizes will be setup in the future and will only be accessible to players with either a bronze, silver or gold insignia… watch this space!
Yep you guessed it, its the original artwork direct from the hand of our artists. Obviously these are few and far between and will be provided on the medium they were created on. We will try to list them all and allow backers to pick on a first come, first serve basis.

Risks and challenges
Such an ambitious project obviously requires time to iron out any technical creases and a substantial budget to build not only the game but sub-systems that will communicate between each device; but we have the right team, passion and most importantly, the experience to see it through and produce a great quality title.
The main issue we face is producing the KRADL3 hardware, which contains the eDice and Tecdeck RFID cards, so we have broken the project down into stretchgoals which include a software-only digital version of the game, all the way through to the full boxed product including hardware. This will confirm the game will be made, whatever budget we secure.
