About this project
Hello I'm David Boone, thanks for visiting the first official D A W N S Kickstarter Campaign.
I started writing this particular batch of songs about two years ago, and from there this project has really grown organically, and has taken a number of turns along the way, and the idea of D A W N S came about through working with various artists, collaborating with them over time.
We produced the EP in London this past fall with Producer Danton Supple, as well as string arranger Audrey Riley, and we produced the 5 tracks which make up the debut EP of D A W N S.
We'll be traveling to the Sun Tunnels on the summer solstice June 20th, to film the next video for the song 'Beam of Light'. It's the final video in the series for the upcoming EP which will also be released on the summer solstice. We're doing this Kickstarter Campaign trying to raise $5,000 to film the video 'Beam of Light' and your support is going to help make this final video in the series possible.
We greatly appreciate all the support you can give and we thank you for joining the D A W N S movement.

VIDEO SERIES ACCOMPANYING EP CREATES A WORLD WITHIN THE ALBUM
D A W N S are preparing to release their self-titled debut EP and the Danton Supple (Coldplay, Starsailor, Morrissey) produced work is scheduled for release June 20th, 2012, the summer solstice.
The dynamic collaboration of Montana songwriter David Boone and string-arranger, Audrey Riley (The Smiths, The Cure, Smashing Pumpkins) brought to full realization the artist's original vision, and D A W N S was born. Lush melodies and orchestral arrangements blend with americana, indie rock and pop to make the EP a standout for all five tracks.
The original imagery from the project, comes from the Spiral Jetty in Utah, and was shot by Montana based visual/conceptual artist, Burke Jam, who played a key role in the creative development of the D A W N S project. Each song on the EP will be accompanied by a video and the artistic concept behind the video series is to create a world within the story lines, and a broader narrative for D A W N S than just that of a common music video; interweaving plots of human struggle and triumph, and ultimately realization or awakening. "Evidence and Answers" is the first video in the series. It was filmed at joint locations, one being Boone's home that he and his wife built in Missoula, Montana.
A crew of five people began filming by traveling 900 miles through the night to reach Robert Smithson's Spiral Jetty in Utah at sunrise, where the majority of the filming took place. Smithson built the Spiral Jetty in 1970 at low tide, and by the time he had finished the nearly 1,500 ft long coil of mud, salt crystals, basalt rocks, earth and water jutting from the shore of the Great Salt Lake, the water level returned to normal and submerged the jetty for the next three decades.
“With ‘Evidence and Answers,’ the song and the video, there is a certain sense of the 'promised land',” expands Boone. “But not as a destination that is seen or anticipated, but as it is beginning to be realized from within.” GET A FREE DOWNLOAD OF "EVIDENCE AND ANSWERS" AND WATCH THE VIDEO AT www.dawnsiscoming.com. Following the release of two more videos, the fourth video in the series is for the song “Beam of Light.” It will be filmed at the Sun Tunnels in Great Desert Basin Utah, created by Smithson's wife, Nancy Holt as a tribute to her husband after his tragic passing in the 70's, following his creation of the Spiral Jetty. The tunnels line up with the rising and falling sun of the summer and winter solstices. They are only officially 'active' on these two dates.
This concept of making a beautifully inspirational creative work, knowing that it would only be visible at times and subject to change by the patterns of nature, was deeply inspirational to the Boone. The songwriter felt that these places and these works could speak to him, teach him, and also illuminate the concepts found within his own songs. The video series is produced, filmed and directed by Missoula filmmakers Patrick Cook, Brandon Woodard and Mat Miller. Burke Jam will be collaborating with filmmakers Cook, Woodard and Miller on the final "Beam of Light" video. Expect the next two videos in the coming months.
“You’re more than always, more than forever, no measurement of time can find out what you're made of” “We’re bound by evidence, we're bound by answers, and if you want my own two cents I say we'll dance together.” (“Evidence and Answers”)
D A W N S represents hope, and new days and their self-titled debut EP will be released on the summer solstice - June 20.
