Hello Sista in the Brotherhood fans and backers!

It's been about a month since you last heard from us and so much has happened. We now have our full cast of five and crew of five, plus Dawn and Roberta makes 12 of us bringing the film into production next month.

After two weeks of promoting the casting call, initial casting and call backs, we selected the four men that will help tell Laneice's story. It was really fun to have five ladies reviewing all the men that showed up for each of the roles and give them pointers on how to be a construction dude. It was a difficult process in that we did see some great actors, but we made our decisions. I present to you (in addition to Sidony O'neal, our lead actor):

Josh Rice as Chad

Scott Mullin as Wayne

David Knell as Frank

Terry Lybecker as Red

These head shots look a little too pretty, but we'll get them properly roughed up for their roles as Laneice's co-workers on the job site!

Cassie Cohn, Katharina Raven, and Marjorie Deocampo have also joined our team as Assistant Director, Assistant Camera and Sound Recordist, respectively. We met our goal of having an all female crew for the project including mostly women of color! And most importantly, it's a killer crew!

Now we are focusing on rehearsal and getting our best performances as well as the hard work of rounding up props and wardrobe.

Our friend Katie Hughes will be heading up this process so if you're a tradeswoman in the area, you might hear from her. We'll be looking for commercial grade tool belts and bags for each of the actors, well-used white hard hats with all those job stickers, donated lumber and more!  We are also looking for a space with a concrete floor that is largely empty, something like a warehouse perhaps. If you have any ideas, please contact Dawn at dawn at heartsandsparksproductions.com.

Another great bit of news is that in addition to the fabulous donation from Pro Photo Supply of camera and lens for the film,  Koerner Camera donated about $1200 worth of additional gear. The support of both of these companies is no small contribution to getting the film made and we graciously thank them!!

Lastly, Sidony O'neal has been hard at work, learning carpentry so she can successfully show off Laneice's skills in the film. I'll leave you with a pic of her working with our official trainer, Kaeli Casati.

Thank you backers for helping us tell this story! We continue to feel honored and lucky to have you. More soon!

Big hug,

Dawn and Roberta
