Hello music lovers! David Mayfield here, trying to fund my second full length studio album. There was a time long ago, when dinosaurs roamed the earth, scruffy looking nerf herder's always got the girl, and record labels showered musicians with dead presidents. Not literally, of course.
That time has come and gone.
You might be asking yourself right now, "What does this hippy need all this scrilla for anyway?" I will break it down for you: I need greenbacks for recording, wampum for artwork and packaging, moolah for promotion, Benjamins for distribution, sawbucks for tour support, lettuce for lavish drug habits. And let's not forget some clams for Kickstarter and Amazon fees.
Currently, I have a budget of about seventeen dollars to spend on this album. I think I could do it, but some say I should spend a little more and make it really good. This is where y'all come in. That is, if you like me, if you wanna support independent music, and more importantly, if you want to actually be a part of this project. Together, we can make something special.
If the full amount of my goal is not reached within 21 days, then all of your pledges are refunded, and I keep nothing. So really, what do you have to lose?
The album will be recorded in two legendary studios.
The Quonset Hut:
Surrounded by vintage microphones and the legendary history of such hallowed ground, we will be able to capture the urgency of a live performance without sacrificing crystal clarity--a warm, classic sound that is sure to be enjoyed by the most particular audiophile all the way to the kid enjoying music from the speaker of his or her cellular phone.
Just seeing my name for the first time? Pleased to meet you :) Here's a little about how I got here.
I have been performing music in front of people for almost my entire life. It wasn't until just 2010 that I decided to step into the spotlight and front my own band "The David Mayfield Parade," independently releasing my own album. I have been overwhelmed by the warm response to that first record and have been touring the United States making new friends ever since.
I grew up in a family band:
I was a sideman in Nashville, TN :
I played in my baby sister Jessica Lea Mayfields band:
I played guitar and wrote songs in a band called Cadillac Sky:
Somehow I still find time to play with my friends:
I also somehow managed to make my way into Phish Fashion:
Without you, I will be forced to record this album on my Fisher-Price Superstar Jammin Band musical microphone, burn each copy on CDR, stick on little paper labels, and sell them out of the trunk of my 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. There is no possible way I can make it to the next level on my own! I need you.
I'm not asking for a handout, look at the list of cool rewards I've cooked up for you guys on the right side of this page. I know that your money is hard earned, so I intend to offer you something special in return. Cuz a dolla make me holla, honey boo boo child.
Thank you from my heart,
