Hey guys! I'm glad you came! I'm working on a 12-song solo debut using the moniker Adiós Macondo, and I'd love for you to be part of it.
Here's the story: I've been working on a batch of songs that take the sounds of Latin America - music from the Andes, Brazil, Argentina, the Caribbean, Mexico, and my native Guatemala - and combine them with subtle electronic elements; synth sounds, samples, and electronic rhythm patterns. The result is going to be surprisingly cohesive. You know, something really beautiful happens when you take layered nylon-string guitars, cajón, and a traditional melody, and then throw some lush, full synth sounds into the mix.
So, I've been writing these songs in my dwindling but fertile spare time (once the kids are asleep) and I'm having a great time. I have a makeshift studio in my dining room (yeah, you read that right) and I've been using it to work on arranging these songs. The results are good enough to give you an idea of what this is going to sound like (watch the video to listen) but they're not quite there yet.
See, in my little studio I can record the electronic elements just fine - synths, samples, beats, etc. - but I don't have the kind of gear I need in order to record live instruments well - guitars, vocals, percussion, etc.
And that's why I'm raising this money.
You know what I'd love? I'd love to record these live instruments in a professional studio that has really expensive microphones. It just makes the sound really shine. I'd also like to get the album mixed and mastered by a pro, so none of the recording's features will be lost. And of course, at the end of it all, I'd like to run a few physical copies of the record to give to you fine people.
Guys, I believe in these songs. I believe that if I can pull this album off it'll be a beautiful, meaningful body of work. I really do think you'll like it. And that's why I'm asking you to partner with me. If you'll help me get this album out there, we're gonna have a ton of fun together. I promise.
