Second Quest is for sale!

Posted by David Hellman & Tevis Thompson (Creator)

Dear backers,

Today we launch Second Quest to the wider public! The hardcover edition and e-book are now for sale at

If you a have a moment, please help us once more: Tell a friend! Help us spread the word.

And please take another moment to pat yourself on the back, because in an absolutely literal sense, Second Quest would not exist without your collective support. It wouldn’t be a book, it wouldn’t be this moment of creative fulfillment for Tevis and me, and it wouldn’t be a story coming to life in the minds of readers.

Thank you!

I also want to thank Fangamer, who produced and shipped all our physical rewards, and are now selling Second Quest from their online store. Many of you have noted their delightful and characteristic attention to detail in the packaging. Special thanks to Charlie Verdin, who worked tirelessly in recent weeks.

Digital Treasure Trove update: Our behind-the-scenes dossier is almost ready. We’ll send it out to $50-tier-and-up backers in the next week or so. Tevis has painstakingly curated this collection of development artwork and writing. It also includes the entirety of my sketchbook (warts and all) from Second Quest’s formative period in 2012.

Launch Party and Book Signing: If you’re in the San Francisco Bay Area, check out our launch event this Saturday from 4pm to 6pm at Mission: Comics and Art. We’ll have drinks and snacks, lots of books and some t-shirts and map posters as well. Come say hello so we can thank you in person. Here’s the Facebook event page.

As always, feel free to get in touch. (David’s twitter/Tevis’s twitter)

Thanks so much, Peter. We're getting that a lot lately: not what I expected, but good! I'm really glad you supported the project, even without agreeing with my initial criticisms (agreement is certainly not necessary).

We created Second Quest with rereading in mind, so we hope you find that rewarding too. And the Treasure Trove should provide a lot of new details about our process (David's complete sketchbook that we're including is particularly cool).

      Thanks again,

I got my book the other day (and immediately opened it to absorb it). I came back to get a refresh on the site both because of the delivery, and also because it felt like there was quite a bit of change in the process. Although I didn't/don't entirely agree with the assessment of Skyward Sword, I was intrigued by the concept of the story, and really enjoy watching the creative process.

What I will share about the book is that it didn't end up as what I thought it would, but _I really like it_. The storyline is engaging, the art is gorgeous, and I'm still glad I supported the project. I look forward to going back through it repeatedly (and with a fine-toothed comb). Not only that, but I look forward to reviewing the digital treasure trove when it's finished up. Thanks for all the hard work. Very well done.
