Joanna here! Dave and I have so enjoyed sharing massive TV events with all of our listeners whether it was getting in just in time to wrap up Breaking Bad, pretty early on Game of Thrones or from the very beginning with Westworld. Obviously, we can't go back in time and start Twin Peaks from the very beginning with all of you—if only there had been podcasts in the 90s! But we do think this reboot or sequel—a massive TV event from someone as endlessly intriguing as David Lynch—was exactly the kind of thing we like to experience along with the rest of you.
And if you thought Breaking Bad was full of visual delights or Westworld the source of endless theories, then wait until you get a load of Twin Peaks. In grand Joanna and Dave tradition, I’m coming to this project with a bit of background—I’ve already seen and fallen in love with the world of Twin Peaks. Meanwhile Dave will play the part of the newcomer enjoying the show for the first time. And if we meet all of our goals, maybe we can travel back in time to the 90s to experience Twin Peaks all over again with all of you. Let’s face it, TV is always more fun when we watch it together.
For $3,000 we can do 8 recap podcasts to cover the new season of Twin Peaks. Showtime is planning 18 episodes, with the first 4 to air in quick succession. Each episode of the podcast would cover approximately 2 episodes of the new season.
Episode 1 of the podcast: S3E1-4 of Twin Peaks
Episode 2 of the podcast: S3E5-6 of Twin Peaks
Episode 3: S3E7-8
Episode 4: S3E9-10
Episode 5: S3E11-12
Episode 6: S3E13-14
Episode 7: S3E15-16
Episode 8: S3E17-18
If we reach our stretch goal of $5,500, we will do 14-15 recap podcast episodes, which will essentially allow us to cover the show on a weekly basis.
If we reach our stretch goal of $6,000, we will do 2 additional recap podcasts before the new season begins.
Risks and challenges
David and Joanna have collectively produced and co-hosted hundreds of podcasts. That being said, episodes of the television show and of the podcast may not meet your specific standards. We have no idea how the new Twin Peaks may turn out, and its quality will shape the tone of our podcast. By backing us, you are acknowledging that this might be the case.
On occasion, we may not be able to record recaps until significantly after an episode has aired on Showtime. It is also remotely possible that either Dave or Joanna may not be able to be able to make the podcast for a week or two due to scheduling conflicts. In these situations, a suitable replacement will be found for that week and the episode will still be delivered.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
