PORTRAITS is the new art book by Dave Wachter. It contains 20 images of inspirational progressive people from history and today, as well as endangered animals of North America. The book will be 44 pages, which includes full pages of the drawings and short biographies on each subject. It’s 7x10, paperback, black and white interiors, printed on nice semi gloss stock paper, card stock cover, and perfect bound. All books will be signed by the author.
The images are all drawn, and the book is in the process of being designed. The postcards have been designed and are almost ready for the printers.
The GOAL of this Kickstarter campaign is to raise enough funds to print the book and postcard sets, ship them, and to print more books that will be sold at conventions. Then, a portion of the money made from those books will go to the ACLU, Planned Parenthood, and the NRDC.

Your Project Creator: I'm Dave Wachter, and I'm a comic book artist and illustrator. I am the artist, co-creator and co-writer of the Eisner and Harvey Award nominated The Guns of Shadow Valley, funded right here at Kickstarter, and later published in collected hardcover form by Dark Horse Comics. I collaborated with famed horror writer Steve Niles to produce Breath of Bones: A Tale of the Golem for Dark Horse. I have done a lot of work for comics publisher IDW, including art for Robert Bloch's That Hellbound Train (penned by Joe and John Lansdale), the horror fable Night of 1,000 Wolves, Godzilla: Cataclysm, art and writing for Godzilla in Hell, and art for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. In 2012, I was nominated for the Russ Manning Most Promising Newcomer Award. After having moved around for a while, I have found a family and settled permanently in Pittsburgh. davedrawscomics.com
Risks and challenges
The portraits are all drawn, the cover of the book is designed, and I've done a lot of the design on the interiors already. The short bios still have to be written. A little more design work and the postcards are ready for the printers. The printing companies are all lined up, I have quotes for all printing and shipping costs. It's a fairly simple project, I've intentionally made it that way to keep costs, time, and risks at a minimum.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
