Final Track Written On The Album Pays Tribute To Keith Emerson
The way I'm incorporating Keith Emerson of Emerson, Lake & Palmer into the album is a little different. I've done some sessions with Keith and Sonic Reality sampling his amazing Moog Modular system and while we were doing that he also did some psychedelic jam sessions with me which he's agreed to let me write around for an instrumental piece on the album. The song is called "Crossing of Fates" and his synth solo is within the context of thematic riffs from other songs on the album that I play in a sort of "Tarkus-style" tribute to him! What a trip!!! I'm on piano and organ and he plays the Moog. At this moment the piece is for the Deluxe 2 CD Edition but I might also put it on the Standard Edition if there's room. Also, I just finished writing this track this morning. This was the last piece I had to write for my album so all of the music and 99% of the lyrics are complete! In full record mode now.
Back to back on the Deluxe 2 CD version is a tribute to Keith Emerson and a poetic tribute to the late Kevin Gilbert, my former bandmate in "Thud" and "Giraffe". The one to Keith includes this "cameo synth solo" played by Keith himself and just this morning I've incorporated his jam into a new composition. In it, I play keys aggressively in a sort of staccato organ/classical piano ELP style (just no spinning or knives involved haha) in appreciation of him. I met Keith through Kevin so for me it's special moment on the record.
