What is a Koolernaut?
The Koolernaut project is available as two items:
1) The Koolernaut digital beer insulator. (commonly known as a KOOZIE, but this word is trademarked). The Koolernaut has a built in digital thermometer that activates when you insert a beer. On the back is a handy temperature chart showing the optimal temperature for different types of beer. Our product uses very thick, sturdy foam to keep all the cool inside your drink where it belongs!
(this is our prototype used in the videos)
Many people, including us, thought all beer should be served ice cold. If it's cheap American beer, you may be right. However, with the explosion of microbrew and craft beer, the knowledge of drinking beer at the proper temperature is slowly gaining popularity. Our product can be used for both, making sure your American lagers are ice cold with the Koolernaut Ice Puck, and by using the digital thermometer and beer temperature chart to ensure your tasty craft beers are not freezing your taste buds!
2) The Koolernaut Ice Puck, which keeps your beer cold (and even makes it colder) all the way to the bottom. It is made to fit in the bottom of Koolernaut, but will fit in a standard KOOZIE (TM) as well. It is filled with a freezable non-toxic gel that chills your beer using the laws of physics!
Proof That It Works!! (Video #2)
Being an engineer, I won't just tell you that my product works, I'll prove it!
Check out this video of our prototype Ice Puck. It chilled the beer that was warm (we put in in a toaster oven to warm it up) by 8 degrees in just a matter of minutes! Our production Ice Puck will be even better by using a freezable gel and being a tighter fit to the bottom of the can.
Even More Proof! (Video #3)
Here we test a Koolernaut vs a regular beer can. Even after only 2 minutes the temperature difference is HUGE!
The custom molds and initial inventory order for the Koolernaut will cost us over $10,000 so we are looking to our consumers and fans to help front some of this cost. We can't do this without all of your support!

Risks and challenges
We have been selling custom leather beer holsters (BeerOutlaw.com) since 2006, we know how to do business. To be honest, we don't really have any big risks with this project. Doing business in China is always a bit risky, but we have been working with our main manufacturer for a couple of months now and have established a great relationship and trust with them. If we do have any setbacks, we have 2nd and 3rd manufacturers lined up and ready to finish our initial order. With a bit of luck, we will have our first batch of products ready to ship before the Kickstarter even completes!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
