Have a question?
When will rewards arrive??
Hello, just watched the movie (no spoilers!), and I have to say I loved it! The unique blend of Japanese and American actors and languages, it was a really awesome piece. I am so glad I was a (very) small part in helping to see this movie made. Also seeing my name in the credits was pretty dang cool.
I look forward to seeing more work from you Mr Boyle (and if you ever kickstart again, I will gladly be of service again) and will be tracking down the other movies you have directed.
Hi Daniel, We have not sent the Q&A out (most likely end of the year or next year so that we can pick the best one.) but you can view this one from Japan Society's screening. https://www.youtube.com/watch… - Warning: spoilers within!
Hello. I may have missed i,t but are any of the Q&A's from the screenings available? I pledged at the $100 level and don't remember seeing a link to this. Thank you and I really enjoyed the movie!
No worries, Dave, thanks for the update and good luck!
Sorry we are a bit behind. We are trying to get out physical rewards out first and July was a very busy month. We are also still weighing options on how to deliver the digital rewards like the streaming link while protecting the film which has only just begun its journey. Hopefully August is the month that we'll be able to complete the delivery. Some rewards like the Behind the scenes video will be delivered next year as we want to incorporate some of the footage from the premieres. I'm happy to speak offline if anyone wants further details.
Hi, when will the stream be available? No rush, just asking because it says Jul 2014 :) Cheers!
Hi David and everyone, the film is done and I'm really excited. We've been quiet bc we have really big news coming soon, so look out for an update next week or so. We are also creating rewards now that will deliver in phases in late summer (or earlier in some cases). Stay tuned!
Any updates? Are you on track?
Could not resist, had to up the pledge after looking at the before and 18 hour in photos! A little extra hard cash to help make the movie better (buy you some coffee?!) ... It is hard cash but given how hard we all work for it, hopefully not cold!
Love your Work.
Ivan....thanks so much! You and Miyuki are the best! I can't wait for you guys to see this new movie! And--thanks to you--it'll be done that much sooner!
Done - MAJOR increase in Pledge - for the second time.... extra "Cold Hard Cash" = a better product. As far as we're concerned, your films have been so wonderful, it's the least we could do.
Hang on Dave, It's Ivan and Miyuki from Australia - we are about to deliver some great news.....
Cold hard cash... I think those are the magic words. I don't know why I couldn't stop saying that during the telethon, but it was so satisfying to say it!
We still have to say "cold hard cash," right?
THANKS SO MUCH EVERYONE! Glad you liked the Telethon! We still have 2 days so we're NOT stopping yet! I'll be doing another webcast Mon night to recap the telethon - honestly, I don't even remember everything that happened...please join and fill me in. Also, I want as many ppl to discover this film as possible, so please keep spreading the word. Going to sleep soon, but let's talk on Mon night at 8:00pm PST. Let's try to get some more cold hard cash in 48hrs, yeahhh?
Loved the telethon! If I ever kickstart a project myself I'll have to have one. Can't wait to see the film.
So happy for you and your entire team Dave! Congratulations!!!! Cannot wait to see the film!
1% away from REAL cold hard cash! keep it up!
Almost there ;)
Love some of the comments here about Dave supporting Japanese actors (You summed up exactly what i wanted to say), i just doubled my pledge as promised on the Telethon after having questions answered and a few shoutouts. will check back soon. Poor Dave was already looking tired!
Almost there!! If everyone under the $50 level doubles their pledge we'll make it!!!
I am backing the project because it's nice to see Japanese actors without katanas in their hands in a non-Japanese production playing regular contemporary people with realistic motives and/or secrets. I also want to encourage more Japanese actors like Kitamura-san to go out and work outside of Japan and possibly increase their English acting skills. On the reverse of that, I want to encourage more filmmakers to use bilingual Japanese-Americans and go for making films with a real international flavor. That's what Dave Boyle is doing, and for the price of a DVD plus some exclusive goodies, you get to support that. Good luck. It's looking great so far!!
Remember the Alamo, back Dave's film and see the last living Tejano who fought at the Alamo with bhuna Sequin, first Mexican American Mayor of San ANtonio. Sheriff Paul Del Moral. Aka pepe serna
I support for many reasons, but particularly because we need more positive and meaningful roles/stories for Asian Americans (and Latinos) on film. Hollywood is not going to do this. Dave Boyle IS doing this. We absolutely must support him and any other filmmakers willing to do something positive for the film community.
Hey thanks Chris and Arin! So glad you guys like what you're seeing. It's funny working on this Kickstarter campaign as I watch the movie evolve in the edit room. Can't wait to share it with everyone!
Looks absolutely incredible Dave. Beautiful vision and awesome concept. With you all the way.
Really excited for this!! :)
Aww man thanks so much Ivan! I really appreciate you guys digging my work!
Big Dreams Little Tokyo blew me and my wife away - love it, how could i NOT back this.
We're getting ever so close to the 30% mark... at which point I'm gonna release my first-ever film "ZACK" for all backers to see! Thanks to everyone for getting us to this point.
No way. It could never be better than THE FIRM...!!
Glad to be able to contribute. Will be an awesome film!!!! I think it might even be better than The Firm! Dave, persnaps you can adapt another John Grisham novel after Man From Reno is released???? Or a Dean Koontz novel? Hehe! Nah, keep on the same track and you will succeed. - Cody
Thanks for helping us get over the 20% mark, Herbert! Glad you're excited for it!
Wow, those clips from the movie look great, and they are not even finished!
Isaac--- I appreciate your enthusiasm, and yes Kitamura-san is beautiful, but let's not go overboard here and diss Warren Beatty. We're talking about the guy who directed DICK TRACY here!
i gave money because i believe in Dave Boyle's talent and vision. also, Yasushi Kitamura is the best looking man to grace motion pictures EVER. he makes "Shampoo" era Warren Beatty look like a leper. A LEPER! don't let the Warren Beattys of the world win. back this project.
Thanks guys, for getting in early on this! Can't wait to share it with you!!
Awesome. Cannot wait to see Dave Boyle's first mystery!
The footage looks great! I can't wait to see this!
