June update: 100th DUO manufactured!
The first Dato DUO's are in backers' hands. We've seen some nice videos so far! Here is Hanna from Australia playing on the DUO for the first time with one of her music students:
Or check this video by Simon syncing up the DUO with his modular setup::
For us, it's awesome to see what people are doing, so if you receive yours please share your pictures, videos and audio snippets with us.
100th Dato DUO!
The 100th Dato DUO came off the production line last week. To speed up production we grew our team; a few music technology students are joining us in our tiny factory.
It's not all plain sailing, though. We are ironing out some issues with failing leds on the sequencer. We added extra tests and are working out a solution together with our circuit board assembler, so all DUO's leaving the factory should be good. If something is wrong with the leds on your DUO, please send us a message and we will work out a solution.
Looking back to a year ago
Our Kickstarter campaign ended about a year ago. This is a nice moment to compare the old & new duo. What has changed? The functionality of the sequencer stayed the same, but we were able to add flashy keys and soft buttons. The Synth side had a big transformation, however. We added two drum pads, a delay and more buttons and knobs!
We're writing this update from Barcelona, where we are showing the DUO at Sonar+D thanks to support from Kickstarter's awesome European team. The weather is good, the people are friendly and we've seen lots of interesting stuff already. If you happen to be in Barcelona between now and Friday, come say hi to us and our Kickstarter friends Dadamachines and Plankton Electronics at the MarketLab at Sonar+D.
And on a final note: production is going well so all backers should receive their DUO's within the next two months. Yay!
