Hi, I'm a little confused. I'm a backer and I got an email informing me that all backer's duos were shipped and delivered. Surprised because I'm still waiting for word about mine.

I'm posting here because I can't find an email address on the website.

    3. Joeri Penasse on July 13, 2017

DUO arrived the day before yesterday. Spent some time jamming with the kids. Woke up waaay too early yesterday. Couldn't sleep anymore and just had to squeeze a track out of this synth asap. Less than 48 hours later the track is finished as well as the making of video (why the hell is video editing software so darn complex?). Anyway, the result is a track containing EXCLUSIVELY Dato DUO sounds and effects. The DAW was used only for arranging, mixing and mastering. Links below:

      The track:…

      The making of (2 parts):……

Please enjoy! If you have any constructive criticism, please post your thoughts here or on YouTube.

      Happy tweaking!

@Marko: your DUO is on its way. I'll send you the tracking code through a personal message.

    5. Marko Hlibchuk on July 12, 2017

Are you still shipping to backers? I haven't heard anything.

@Simon Henry Williams: it should have been delivered. I've sent you a private message containing the tracking info.

    8. simon henry williams on June 29, 2017

Hi - I was one of the early birds but haven't heard anything about delivery. Should I be worried?

    9. Dato Creator on June 5, 2017

@Hanna: thanks for posting that video and your kind words. It's great to get such compliments from the other end of the globe. Have fun playing the DUO with your students!

    10. Hanna Silver on June 4, 2017

Mine finally arrived on Friday, hooraaaaay! I took it to work with me (I am a piano teacher) and had some fun playing it with one of my 4 yr old students. Looking forward to using it lots! Thank you!

    11. Dato Creator on May 28, 2017

@SiBoT: nice to hear that you are enjoying it. It also feels good that we have managed to change your opinion on the DUO – a lot of work went into improving the instrument between Amsterdam Dance Event and now.

@Ian: yes, we are behind our initial schedule by about two months. We are producing & shipping at full steam now, though. More about that is explained in our Kickstarter updates:

Just arrived this morning! I waited for my son all day long to open it and...It was the party time! He liked it a lot but more surprising I loved it. I was lucky to play it shortly during an event in Amsterdam, And it didn't totally convince me.. But now I am. The sound is really great considering the initial goal. Design and playability is excellent. But jamming with a 15-month-old boy, this is incredible ! Real fun, and a lot more than that

    16. Dato Creator on May 7, 2017

@Francis: our backers pledged from all around the globe: Asia, America, Australia, Europe. Our upcoming May Update will shine some light on how we plan to ship efficiently.

As for manufacturing: we spent a lot of time on design for manufacturing and have taken some aspects from lean manufacturing like eliminating waste and not making/ordering more than we need. Still, we are learning a lot but still have a lot to learn.

    17. Francis Xavier on May 6, 2017

Kind of curious about how these will be shipped. How many different regions need orders fulfilled?

Are you using any kind of lean manufacturing or thinking in your assembly? I think what you guys have done is really cool and can't wait to start playing with family and friends :)

    18. Dato Creator on February 4, 2017

@Chris: we agree, April still seems far away. Stay tuned for a Kickstarter update next week, showing the latest features and the production schedule.

For now, one of our Dev Kit backers posted a video on YouTube of his kids playing the pre-production prototype:

    19. Chris Marks on January 10, 2017

Can we see some more videos in action? April can't come soon enough. Lol.

    20. Dato Creator on December 23, 2016

@Dustin: great question. Our test setup includes KORG Volca's and a Teenage Engineering Pocket Operator. We are testing with the KORG SyncKontrol iPhone app as well so you should be able to use the app with the Dato DUO.

    21. Dustin Lyday on December 22, 2016

How can we sync iPhone apps like Garage Band? You mention that the Korg Volca syncs. Volca syncs to iPhone apps via the Korg SyncKontrol iPhone app. Does this mean we can use SyncKontrol with DataDuo? This would be a great low friction set up for kids. Thanks!

    22. Dato Creator on December 16, 2016

      Hi Carolyn,

Thanks for contacting us! We are always happy to hear from our backers. The Dev-Kit pre-production prototypes were just shipped to a limited number of backers. We will be shipping everyone's DUO's in April 2017, so please be patient.

Hope this answers your question, if anything is unclear or you have other questions please let us know.

      All the best

    24. Dato Creator on October 12, 2016

@Chris: stay tuned. We have a very nice update planned for this week.

    25. Chris Marks on September 30, 2016

Can you please post some more videos of this amazing bit of kit??? I've watched all the current ones over and over. Lol.

    26. Dato Creator on June 27, 2016

@Dustin: we'll make sure the wait is worth your while. We like using the Dato DUO with a bit of distortion and some delay, so keep your eye out for those.

    27. Dustin Lyday on June 26, 2016

I'm anxiously waiting to share music synthesis with my little boy. In the mean time, I'll be collecting old FX petals so my 4-5 year old can really get physical in 2017.

    28. Admiral Moggie on June 17, 2016

Thanks dato, after project support is a big point for me so I appreciate your openness to be there for the backers :-)

    29. Dato Creator on June 17, 2016

@Joshua: We will be around for support and repairs after the rewards have been shipped. Also, we will provide tutorials and a support section on the website for any assistance you might need. We don't have specific info yet, but our contact details will be stated clearly on our website once the Kickstarter campaign is finished. If anything pops up, contact us and we will try to work it out.

    30. Admiral Moggie on June 17, 2016

Hello dato! I just wanted to know what the process would be after we get our product then at some stage we run into an issue or we need some assistance - would it be easy to contact you guys after sale and even with returns (global) or maintenance if necessary?

    31. simon henry williams on June 8, 2016

Can't wait to get this and to start making music on it with my daughter!

    32. Dato Creator on June 5, 2016

@Guille, thanks for backing the Dato DUO! Transpose by semitones is already included – the two red buttons on the sequencer side. The alternative scales are something we are looking into but no promises yet.

    33. Guille Mostaza on June 4, 2016

Hi! Just supported your proyect. I'm an early proud owner of a Dato! Sugestion: chromatic, major and minor scales (amd transpose) option. This would turn this machine in a serious creative little monster. I'm father, producer, composer and recording studio owner, it would be great if I can use it everywhere! Thanks.

    34. Dato Creator on June 1, 2016

@Garrett, thanks for pledging. I'm sure you'll also have a blast once you get it :)

      I'm in for one.

Excellent choice on going with a pentatonic keyboard, and it looks very approachable.

I'm sure my son will have a blast once we get it.

    36. Dato Creator on May 29, 2016

@Andrew Lillie, thanks for your pledge. Your support is much appreciated!

@Doodle3D, thanks for vouching for us. And sorry for all the blippy bloopy tunes that we play on our prototype all the time :)

    37. Andrew Lillie on May 27, 2016

What a lovely idea. Made me smile to watch your pitch video. I can't really justify buying a Dato right now, but I've chipped in some spare change in the hopes that it'll get you closer to making your goal!

    38. Doodle3D on May 27, 2016

We from @doodle3d share our office with David and Toon, the guys behind guys behind Dato! We like their project very much. We think you will like it too!
