SEGA’s greatest arcade cabinets as pop-up sculptures: Hang-On, Space Harrier, Thunder Blade, After Burner, Out Run, and Power Drift
1,208 backers pledged £52,321 to help bring this project to life.

Stretch goal!

As hinted at – and now rubber-stamped by the good folks at SEGA – we are able to open up the possibility of adding a sixth sculpture to SEGA Pop-Up: Arcade History!

If our funding total hits £50,000, a sixth pop-up cabinet – the 1988 kart racer Power Drift – will be added to the book! Currently we're just over £6,000 shy of that target, so please do help us spread the word about our ever ballooning pop-up history tome, and let's see if we can't unlock this Yu Suzuki super scaler classic...

Excellent! Power Drift is such an innovative use of 2D sprite scaling technology to create what was effectively a 3D racing game. It's a real technical marvel!

It's a real shame that SEGA never capitalised on the series and left the Kart racing genre to Nintendo.

PowerDrift is always overlooked, I own a dedicated stand up version of the arcade - still fun to play and great soundtrack! Did you know you could fly as the airplane from afterburner on a bonus track if you finish first on every track?
