Lionel Rogosin’s last film Arab Israeli Dialogue was filmed in 1974 in his basement office of the renowned Bleecker Street Cinema, which he founded in 1960. It is one of the earliest, if not the first filmed discussion between a Palestinian and an Israeli, as they search to define their claims, grievances and solutions for a future peace between Israel and the Palistinians. This dialogue between the national Palestinian Poet Rached Hussein and the Israeli journalist/ sculptor painter and member of the Stern gang Amos Kenan was made in the simplest manner : one camera, two people in one room with additional images shot by Rogosin on his trips to Israel in the early 1950’s.

Despite that he obtained no help from public Television, Rogosin managed to scrape together the funds for this filmed discussion, which now echoes through time as an important marker in the search for peace.

Our goal is to follow up on this conversation, almost 40 years after Amos and Rached's original dialogue, and create a new, vital document of the change that has taken place in those years.  Our team is Michael Rogosin, Lionel's son and a prolific filmmaker in his own right; Adrian Rothschild, editor and video producer in New York City; several other talented crew members; and the extremely intelligent academics, journalists, and other knowledgeable figures interviewed for this film.

To finish the edit and film last interviews we need $4500

To Edit Part two (Lionel's unfinished follow up to his original dialogue several years after Rached had died) – $2000

To film part three (an extended, updated interview with two modern figures on each side of the Israeli - Palestinian divide) - $8000

Thank you so much for helping to make this film happen, and please spread the word about our cause!

_______________________________________________________________

Merci !

Risks and challenges

We have completed principal photography on part one, and have acquired all footage necessary for part two. Those two parts of the final film are only awaiting final funding in order to be edited together.

Part three is a larger challenge, but given the experience we have gained completing the principal photography for this film, we are more than prepared to face the challenges ahead!
