“The story calls to the reader in a way Lovecraft would approve of with a nod and a wry smile. I couldn't put it down if I wanted to.” ~ The Phantom Star.net (REVIEW FOR: LOVECRAFT P.I. THE CURIOUS CASE OF ReANIMATOR vol.2)
Greetings from the land of eldritch horror. My name is D.W. Kann and I am the writer/creator of the LOVECRAFT P.I. - THE CURIOUS CASE OF ReANIMATOR graphic novel. In the latest installment of the series, a bizarre case file takes our chain smoking, lantern-jawed detective Ward Lovecraft to New Orleans circa 1932.
I'm looking forward to sharing this new adventure with you all. Fans of H.P. Lovecraft will discover some wonderful Easter eggs hidden throughout these pages. I've spent the last two years deeply immersed within H.P.'s works and personal biography to expand the story’s scope beyond the happenings in Volume One.
I’ve been a Lovecraft fan myself for decades. It began with my first introduction to his work in 1985 when, at the tender age of 14, I saw Stuart Gordon's RE-ANIMATOR for the first time. The gory masterpiece blew my mind. In re-imagining such an iconic character, I wanted to explore the psychological depths of Herbert West and elaborate on what I believe he would accomplish under certain circumstances. So sit back and enjoy this tale over your favorite cup of coffee or delicious absinthe. Let this Curious Case creep into your subconscious.

“It’s fantastic! He’s like old school Columbo.” ~ Petesbasement.com (REVIEW FOR: LOVECRAFT P.I. A SHOT IN THE DARK vol.1)
“I received this telegram from my old friend, G.G. Angell, an authority on ancient inscriptions and Semitic languages.
From what local law told the Old Man, it seems our Inspector Legrasse lost nine of his men while investigating a tip from a survivor of some sort of Voodoo cult, deep within the infamous Black Swamp.” - Detective Ward Lovecraft.
“Lovecraft P.I. combines the eldritch horror of Lovecraft with the gritty realism of a Humphrey Bogart film, creating a mesmerizing world of mystery and cosmic terror in which there is no escape.” ~ B-Movie Bros (REVIEW FOR: LOVECRAFT P.I. THE CURIOUS CASE OF ReANIMATOR vol.2)
“You can practically smell the cigarette smoke coming from these pages.” ~ comicwhisperer.blogspot.com (REVIEW FOR: LOVECRAFT P.I. A SHOT IN THE DARK vol.1)
“I hope the creators of Lovecraft P.I. Love what they do because in my opinion, they should be doing this for a long time to come.” ~ comicwhisperer.blogspot.com (REVIEW FOR: LOVECRAFT P.I. A SHOT IN THE DARK vol.1)
LOVECRAFT P.I. is a mash-up between 1930’s pulp detective novels and the horror masterpieces of the legendary H.P. Lovecraft.
Volume One's case file; A SHOT IN THE DARK written by Fritz Striker and D.W. Kann, takes us to 1937 Innsmouth, Massachusetts where Ward Lovecraft, unearths a secret cult, solves a murder, and locates a rare volume of the sinister Necronomicon text before unspeakable evil is unleashed on the world. This three-issue series is now a trade paperback and available for the first time on Kickstarter. We were fortunate enough to have world-renowned illustrator Paul Shipper create three fantastic covers. THE CURIOUS CASE OF ReANIMATOR will be our fourth collaboration.
After completing the first issue we brought the project to Kickstarter and raised an incredible $12,323 with 248 backers. In the midst of completing these books we toured the U.S. and attended various Comic Cons to spread the word to new fans.
None of this would have been possible, we owe it all to you, dear backers, and your faith in a group of writers and artists who came together. To create an ever-expanding universe, based on the works of one of our favorite authors, H.P. Lovecraft, and one simple idea.
We hope you all join us in supporting this new book, we've had a blast creating it and look forward to further adventures of DET. WARD LOVECRAFT.
MANY THANKS TO YOU ALL! ~ D.W. Kann
