The Show Will Go On
A big thank you to those who have contributed so far. With nine days left of our campaign we are 25% funded. While that means we still need to raise $1500, we are hopeful.
Over the past two weeks we have been asked what will happen if the Kickstarter project isn't funded. Will the summer show still happen?
The answer to that question is yes. Vaudeville on Vacation will happen regardless of whether or not the campaign funds. There is however a Part Two to this answer and that is that while our summer show will go on it does mean we will have to consider whether or not we can do future stage shows.
Dark Follies performs in quite a few different venues: the town square, local cafes and pubs, and various festivals. Many of these shows are events where a sponsoring venue asks us to perform and hires us to put on a show. This is much different than our stage shows which we produce ourselves. In other words we are the ones who provide the funds to put on that sort of show.
While there is a bit of financial risk in funding the show ourselves there are a lot of upsides, it allows us to be able to put on a show that is limited only by our own imagination and ingenuity, we control the ticket price and most of all we are able to choose a venue that is open to everyone.
We love performing and will of course continue to do so, but we hope to have the opportunity to bring vaudeville to life in the larger stage productions that we have come to greatly enjoy putting on and which our supporters have come to love.
Thank you again for your support.
