Dark Day Games believes that adding weapons to a horror game takes away any semblance of fear and often ruins the immersive aspects of the game. ONE FINAL BREATH is about pure survival. You either run or you die. Move quickly to avoid death.
One Final Breath is being developed using the Unreal Engine 4, which we find to be an incredible game engine. The engine gives us enormous freedom when it comes to graphical fidelity and technical quality, while we focus on refining ideas and gameplay.
• We are working day and night on this project to make our dreams come true. We don’t want to end up with a poor game.
One Final Breath has undergone multiple iterations over time, in order to make the best horror experience possible. We don't want the story to fall flat due to graphical hiccups, or have the gameplay feel stale because of poor storytelling. We have commissioned the services of professional voice actors who have an extensive history in video game voice overs.
Our aim is to build a world that feels unique and real - creating environments that look as accurate to the time period as possible, using information we've gathered about real abandoned hospitals.
One Final Breath will also feature foreign language localization in the form of multiple foreign language subtitles in-game. If our budget allows for it, we will also hire voice actors to re-dub the game in languages other than English.
Our goal is to make this title available on as many platforms as possible; this Kickstarter campaign will help us reach that high standard that console players crave. Our target consoles are Xbox One and PlayStation 4 along with Steam.
Here we are showing off the game using Oculus Rift. We have a sample walkthrough of a small section of the game, mind you it’s still in early stages and we do apologies for the frame rate as we have not yet optimized for VR, hopefully we can add this feature with our stretch goal.
We are thinking of adding a option to play the game in third person, to test this theory we played around with that idea. And here are the results, having this option may give the game a different feel which could work well for those who are not fans of First Person Mode.
To give a better understanding on what happens to the funds from backers we have placed a basic chart, to show what the money goes towards. And how we plan to use it, this chart may change if we reach our stretch goals.
Final Breath Soundtrack – We take pride in the music that we chose to include in this project, and now you can too. Pledge $15 and above to receive the game's soundtrack, consisting of piano solos and dark, creepy atmospheric tracks. The soundtrack will also include a little backstory, lines used in the game, plus a few hidden extras for you to discover. Below are some samples from this 20 track collection.

We’ll also sign the art book for you (unless you don’t want us to!)

We want to make One Final Breath the best experience it can be. We aim to focus on this game 24/7 once funded, and every dollar helps us to make this a better game. The more we raise the bigger the game will become, with more depth, more platforms, more jumps and more everything. We plan to update One Final Breath for years with free backstory DLC, so that players can always experience something new, always taking into consideration the feedback from the community.
Funding will allow us to build this into something amazing, from the ideas of the team and the feedback from the community, without relying on publishers who may not have the same vision as us, We have tried a few times to find success, so we have taken advice from the fans and the community in what needed to change, or what should be added, an now we have come back hoping to get this project we love into the light for all to play and experience.
We are using well known and experienced voice actors to help tell this story, but they don't work for free, and building this world from the ground up making it unique an beautiful takes time, funding will allow us to focus 100% which will speed up the process extremely, without worrying about the wolves at the door. And to all those who backed us in the past we thank you greatly and will be included in this campaign with a cool bonus, we appreciate everything that the fans have done for us!
Risks and challenges
We are currently in the pre-alpha stage of game development. As is always the case with game development, delays may occur but we’ll do our best to keep them to a minimum. If a delay does happen, you can rest assured that it is for the best of intentions and only taken to improve your gameplay experience.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
