Here I am explaining the game on Geek & Sundry's Twitch channel!
ALL BACKERS WILL HAVE THEIR NAMES ADDED TO THE RULEBOOK! (unless you would prefer not to be added, of course)
Hello again, Kickstarter!
Hi, I'm Darin. You can check out my personal site FeatherAndMatch.com to see the kinds of things I make and am currently making!
I'm back for my third game of ridiculous characters doing ridiculous things. This time around, I am adding my style of card games to the old classic "Screw Marry Kill" game, where "screw" is whatever word you are comfortable using for when two adults... love each other very much. Except rather than make it three simple choices, players will be faced with VERY tough choices involving constantly-changing characters. Check out the video above for a simple breakdown of how it works. Or just trust me that it's VERY funny, and click on the thing that shuts up and takes your money. For which I will always be very humbly grateful.
UPDATE: As a thank you to everyone who refers friends to back this game, I have set up a referral program that gives you 10% of whatever your friends spend. Get your referral link here, and help spread the word! Earn money from home! Drop out of school! Quit your job! PROFIT!
There will also be TWO 100-card expansions!
GEEK MARRY KILL, which is full of geek culture references. Would you fly across the country in a plane flown by Jigglypuff? Would you give the triforce to Hitler if it meant you didn't have to screw Yoshi? Okay I actually don't know the answer to that.
F#&! MARRY KILL, which is full of horrible and disgusting cards WHICH IS A THING SOME PEOPLE WANT DON'T LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT.
Core Deck size will be determined soon before final print, but will likely be around 500 cards.
Backers will also receive an EXCLUSIVE 18-card booster pack!
International fans can use the $1 INTERNATIONAL WAITLIST levels to lock in the discounted pricing and exclusives for international preorders that will open at the end of the campaign! This lets us get the shipping rates exactly right, rather than having to estimate, which can be really difficult. These preorders will ship with Kickstarter orders.
FIRST OFF: I HATE typing stuff like this. I hate all of the LOOK AT THESE WORDS and LOOK AT ME. I just want to make games, and for people to like those games. I still remember standing alone in a tiny detached garage shipping orders for my games. I very clearly remember that. And I remember the names of so many of the people who have supported my games. It's hard for me to stand here and ask for attention and support. But this community has been amazing, and has enabled me to do more than I ever thought I could. For that I will always be incredibly grateful.
Ok back to it:
With the help of this community, this will be my third Kickstarted game. My first two, Superfight and Red Flags, were and continue to be a phenomenal successes. With this game, I wanted to come back to the place that gave me my start, and offer the game to Kickstarter backers first. Kickstarter changed my life in a very real way, and I am excited to be back with this new project.
Here I am during one of the best moments of my life, playing Superfight on stage at Petco Park during San Diego ComiCon with Michael Rooker from The Walking Dead, Shane West from everything ever, Meg Turney from all of the internet, Grant Imahara from Mythbusters, and Adrienne Curry from America's Next Top Model and many other things. I learned a lot when I created Superfight, as evidenced by how much it has grown in the three years since it Kickstarted. Red Flags benefitted from that experience, and BLANK MARRY KILL will benefit from the experiences I had with both games.
Risks and challenges
Thanks to Superfight and Red Flags, I already have a pipeline in place to produce this game! All that's left to do now is finalize the cards, and I have some very talented friends helping write these. More on that later.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
